The nice thing is they've managed to balance it so far. Like, yeah, there's bear rear end quests, but you can mindlessly do the like 2-3 of them while doing story stuff, and the story stuff isn't needlessly long, so it doesn't feel like a massive grind to get it done. They've really refined their storytelling to the point where if you like it you'll really like it and if you don't then it's basically a completely ignorable and not terrible aspect of the game on your way to 60 and raids/dungeons with buds. It's the best of both worlds.

Also, I love that so many of the things coming up in these new quests, like the DRK first quest and in the MSQ, are solved by violence. Everyone freaks out, and then someone goes "well, you could just beat the poo poo out of these people and the problem goes away" and I just go "Finally, now someone in this game is speaking my language." From the little bit of DRK I've gotten through, they can lay out a surprising amount of damage if they line everything up right, so even if mch is pretty much right in line with all the dps like it feels like, DRK tanks would make it go quite a bit faster.

Also, cross classing all the good stuff and popping every cooldown as a MCH is something not enough people I've seen are doing, it's really funny to just completely roid out with blood, hawkeye, all the MCH cooldowns, ammo, and raging strikes and just go to town with aoe.

The problem MCH has even at 60 is that a chance-based proc combo was a bad idea designed make you use reload to which means your actual honest to god combo is on a loving cooldown which is kinda baffling. On top of that MCH brings very few things to the table that BRD doesnt already do without doing them better.

Which is lovely. I love this class's style and I want to play it, but we're talking beyond outlier progression MCH problems I mean these are problems you can see with the class all the way from Haukke Manor to Turn 13. Reload and Clean Shot combo are just loving boned and they need to make them more consistent to START making MCH a worthwhile class outside of It Looks Cool and I Like Shooting Thing With a Gun (both good reasons imho)

I've been looking up information on this because I'm at school and bored between classes, and some people are saying that you need to get gauss barrel before you can really judge MCH DPS because it's a big game changer, which is to be expected. The problem with that is that right now gauss barrel is a dps decrease because you trade about 30% of your dps in AAs for 20% increased damage on abilities. I'm not great at math, though, so maybe it really does even out at some point. Maybe you can drop guass barrel after dropping dots and your ammunition combo with some cooldowns and then put it back on when you've gotten a proc and your ammo back?

Also you still need to have balanced damage in low level content because they want everyone to be regularly going back and doing old content, so having a dps just be lovely at everything before 52 isn't cool. Last night I did a stone vigil run that took more than 45 minutes to finish with two Machinists. We didn't wipe on anything, and I wasn't pulling any differently than I do for other groups that take in the neighborhood of 30 minutes or so. It's been pretty consistent across all of the lower level dungeons that I've done for DRK that having a machinist in the group means the dungeon will take an extra 5-10 minutes, and having two of them guarantees it'll take an extra 15 or so. DRK feels like it's doing about the damage of a WAR, but even if I was just spamming flash for threat and doing no damage at all it wouldn't account for that much extra time.

On the other hand, DRK is baller as hell, definitely an A++ would roll again class.

The idea behind Wanderer's Minuet is fine, the implementation is absolutely not

It's not spite, it's a complete lack of sympathy. I see one actual bug with WM, which does suck but will hopefully get fixed soon, and it seems rare enough that it shouldn't be a huge issue. Everything else is either from the across the board AOE nerfs or things the rest of us have been using this entire time, and the fact that you don't even know what the basic game's mechanics are for people who aren't the master class is kind of depressing, and most likely the reason they changed bard the way they did.

Yeah it looks good on paper but falls apart quickly in practice.

The big problem is the random extra potency procs. It's like they were going for that OR the ammunition system and ended up throwing both in because reasons. The end result is just messy and encourages nonsense like ignoring your rotation and spamming your 1-2 shot to get the proc for 2 -3 before Reloading THEN doing the combo properly. It also introduces wild variances in your overall DPS as even if you do the combo rotation as normal, the damage swings varies so much between having procs/ammo/both or not. Then there is the problem of using anything BUT your basic 1-2-3 shots is a near complete waste of an ammunition stack.

It only compounds the issue of the overall sluggish damage MCH put out in general even if they are absolutely perfect with their execution.

Yeah, even if they buffed the potency numbers to fix damage output, having your combo be a coin flip to even happen just doesn't feel good. I was hoping ammunition would be like MY ANIME and using a caster pistol from outlaw star, but instead it just enables you to do regular dps. Like, how cool would it have been if MCH just got a regular combo instead, and then had different types of ammunition that interacted with each other to produce more damage so the skill lay in correctly swapping ammo in and out. It would have been unique instead of "bard with a gun and worse damage."

Also I dig the math chat, we should have more math chat because learning stuff like how AAs work is cool.

I'd have to check when I get home, but I had to replace a ring rather than the bracelets at 60 to get to 145+, so if you got really unlucky in the dungeons you may have to replace both. If you still have your roulettes untouched when you hit 60 I believe you can buy both since they're like 210 stones, I want to say.

Also, I like that they used kind of a soft gating for the tomestones/centurio seals so that if you really really want to you can just saw away at dungeons and A/S hunts, or you can just do the daily/weekly stuff and still get everything reasonably fast. I think the napkin math I did came up to about 20ish days to get everything and upgrade everything from the law vendor.
