I broke the retention clip on the graphics card slot of my motherboard (Dell 0GDG8Y). Now my computer won't boot unless I remove the card and use integrated graphics card. Does this usually necessitate replacement of the whole motherboard? Thank you

It won't boot even with the card securely screwed into the slot?

Did you also pull the whole slot off the pins, like this? (It doesn't need to be as dramatically visible as that to make the slot nonfunctional.) If you have another PCIe x16 slot on the motherboard, you can probably use your GPU in that one instead, though maybe with a slight performance hit. If there are no other slots, then yes you would need to replace your motherboard (or have excellent soldering skills) to use a GPU again.
