Yeah. That's one of the best scenes in the film. I love the way it slowly reveals the Alien.

Hbomberguy posted:That SMG post is describing, in detail, why the reveal makes the scene good. Sure, but I don't like the idea of removing the plot and story completely for a reading. That will always feel false. I can agree and see that the film is suggesting that Ripley was in a sort of dream like state, and whatever that stuff was woke her up, in a sense and realized or nightmare was real or something like that. Not that the alien was injected into her. That's weird.

Now I kinda want to write a short film script about that idea. I could probably film it too. The Alien would be hard, I suppose. But maybe that's how you make it scary again. By not showing it at all?

The other thing I'd like to try and make is a fan film that isn't fanwank for the fanboys. I've yet to see a fan film that isn't dipped in crummy injokes or stuff about "The lore". Also, if you want to help me write it, shoot me a PM. And you can have 10 percent. (Kinda serious about this. My irrational goal in life is to make an Alien movie)

In Alien 3 we did. It just looks like a regular Alien, but a little goopier. It was during the scene when the guy falls into the fan.

Nah. I'd wager that the screenwriters were both aware of AvP and Scott didn't say "Hey wait a minute" because he's never seen them, and doesn't care.

No. That's the first Aliens comic run. Labyrinth is about a crazy doctor who experiments with Aliens because he got nabbed by the Aliens once, and survived while his family were impregnated. Which is legit one of my favorite scenes in the Alien series. That needs to be in a movie.

Snowman_McK posted:That's the perfect example of the film's shortcomings. It's a blatant homage to Billy's death in the first Predator, but while that was a futile gesture, and he doesn't even die on screen, the small man with a short sword successfully swordfights a giant Alien. It 'reimagines' the scene into something completely loving toothless. Well yes. This is a big issue I have with the movie. And most Alien/Predator sequels. They rely way too much on nods and references. It's really annoying.
