Which one of you said they didn't have time to do a clip show. No but really that was a great ending. Or I guess that was a great tacked on five minutes to last week's great ending. I really liked that it was Tsubasa objecting in the final moment, but then ultimately relenting to letting the plan go through. Letting Hajime's beliefs stand for themselves despite the obvious danger. Also her Gatcha's visor-bangs are amazing. When there is a next season I hope she gets more fight time. Also more JJ.

I definitely feel like JJ is sometimes underappreciated. Rather than rejecting his guidance and authority, usually brought up as a proxy for rejecting a "God" figure, I feel like the Gatchaman have simply learned better than to wait for his instructions. They know what they're supposed to do, what they've been empowered by him to do; their mistake was waiting on some kind of divine sign to propel them forward when, really, they already had all the tools they needed. JJ's selection of Hajime in season one was most likely intended to transform the Gatchamen from a reactive force to a proactive one.

Jeez, for Gatchaman, that scene with Hajime progressively bleeding more and more, her lopped off arm being represented by a arm of pure blood is pretty bloodthirsty, but I guess that was to point, to drive home exactly how painful and scary it must be. Heres hoping for Season 3!

God drat, this was a good episode. There are no easy answers, only difficult choices. If there is a flaw with this episode, they laid on Hajime's sacrifice way too thickly, but they followed through with the threat of the Atmosphere changing towards her. And they only save her by appealing for time and patient decision making. In summary, I like Insight more than Crowds. Which is impressive, this show tackles much more ambiguous and ambitious concepts than S1, and it admirably clears those hurdles. Redmark posted:Great season. Maybe, but I thought Hajime's 'we don't need you any more' back in S1 was slightly more hostile than just a 'thanks for already giving us all the tools we need to fix this'. There definitely seemed to be something of a defying-God element to it, especially when combined with the other crumblings of traditional authority in the show, even if all parties were fairly chill about it.

There isnt a rejection of the god figure because JJ himself probably never intended to be used as a crutch like that. The biggest theme gatchaman crowds is going for is that people are good yet flawed, regardles of their station in life. Every other thing stems from this core assumption.

Im more inclined to say gently caress preTsubasa than I am gently caress Rizumu. Im pretty sure now that he WOULD have backed down if she hadnt interfered in ep3 and then none of this would have happened. But then JJ probably understood that humanity would have come out for the better anyways after thr ordeal. gods work in mysterious ways

Just got around to finishing insight, and it was really good! I think they could've structured the end of 11 and the beginning of 12 such that it flowed a bit better, without having Tsubasa spell the whole thing out at length, especially since it was pretty obvious from that start what was going on. But overall the season came together really well, and managed to improve on the first season. Even while introducing two new characters that got a significant chunk of the show's focus and screentime, the show did a good job at utilizing the whole cast. Even though certain members like Sugane had less screentime than in S1, nobody felt forgotten, they all had their own unique situations and reactions to how society was shifting around them. There were a few moments throughout where the Gatchaman were talking as a group and I thought they might leave a member just milling around in the background, but I was pleasantly surprised when they would speak up or be addressed. The only character in the show you could say didn't get a whole lot of attention is Utsusu, and being quiet is her thing, whether you like that or not. I do think they kind of laze when it comes to having her do much besides letting them safely gently caress up the Gatchaman (though that in itself was used well when they involved the entire crew in healing Hajime), but overall I was impressed by how well they utilized their cast, even more minor characters like Mana and her dad. The only reason why kuus are a threat is because people are a threat, its the same logic behind keeping crowds away from people. So no, I dont think kicking someone out of the planet because of your own problems is an objectively right thing to do.

I dont know because I dont think they had the time to show what usually happens in this case? A few people moping or protesting and then life just goes on. Then people learn that it wasnt the end of the world like they were expecting and come to accept it as the new normal. The vote itself is important because it goes back to that theme about people ultimately being good. It was a narrow victory, but Gel had the cards stacked against him and the majority still picked right.

That scene worked really well, because it's a design shock for the people who voted for them and all of the fight scene was very distinctly unnatural from the rest of the series. No music, very little talking, and then in the repeat viewing the screaming and excessive blood. I was unsure of what they were trying to build to in the second half of this season but that finale was really really cool

People are really chill in this series and it honestly doesn't make a lot of sense if you take it at face value. It makes sense thematically but if you want to nitpick, Japan's whole structure should have collapsed after like a week of Gelsadra's rise to power.

This was a great season, but I'm unsure why the CROWDS issue was glossed over. They just showed up again in the credits, even though they were still abolished for perfectly good reasons. Are they reinstated now, or what?
