I've been horrified by a few cases where I initially thought a lynching was what had occurred, but fortunately (though tragically) these ended up being suicides, at least from all the stories I have seen. a number of the recent killings of black people by police would qualify under some of the common definitions. particularly the ones that were committed in public and where no legal action was taken against the perpetrator
