Well i bit the bullet last night and upgraded from Win7. It's ok. The ui is a little odd but it's incredibly responsive and seems to run smoother. It's also smaller in size than win7 which helps on my small SSD.

All in all it's ok.

Cortana is actually kinda cool.

This just downloads the installer which lets you do a regular update install without creating media or any of that bullshit.

Just be sure to make sure all of the windows updates are installed after the OS is finished updating and reboot before installing the new nvidia drivers.

upgrading will just make everything prettier and it doesnt touch your files. you need to redownload video card drivers and stuff though
