So I started reading Goodbye to Halos because of you fuckers got to the point where the dude was introduced as "Very Con-cerned Gay Lion" and decided nope I just Look I'm straight so that means I don't have an invested interest in queer fiction by default, but this has nothing to do with that. That is a terrible way to introduce a character I don't care what whimsical bullshit you're trying to coat it in. Imagine O Human Star if it introduced Al as "Grumpy Frustrated Gay Man Who May Have Always Wanted To Be Trans But It's Kind Of Complicated And A Touchy Subject" On second thought that would be almost ridiculous enough to pass. What I'm trying to say is that Goodbye to Halos has lovely writing that makes me angry as a writer, just in how it introduces people. And that's notable.

Being entirely honest, you hit the nail on the head. He's said as much about Sexy Heroic Rapist- that was why he did it. Why NOT contrive a reason for a rapist to be a hero? Never mind the reasons you don't do that, especially in light weight bullshit like DD. Another edge to the epic legacy of DD is the fact that it is bound in Mookie's personal interests and fetishes. It's some lovely online comic he did so why not indulge himself? Cue the sexy posed corpses and loads of other weird fetishy poo poo that kept popping up. I don't think anyone could ever make a comic quite like Dominic Deegan again. It might be beyond mortal ken to accomplish

Every now and again I check on his new comic- not to read it just to see if it's still going. I'm always kind of pleasantly surprised to see it is. Star Power is just kind of boringly competent from what very little I've looked at it. I'm not sure how good or bad it is, but I remember the thread lost all steam with it because it was Mookie being very professional, possibly due to having a filter of another artist directing his efforts.

This is why DD could support and maintain a mock thread where all else fails. No matter how awful it got, there was always this charm to it that made you really, REALLY love hating it. The consistent updates helped too. Mookie being a pretty alright guy with some weird fetishes also helped the thread from getting too icky or personal.

I looked up what happened and I am very disappointed. We don't get to see any dick stabbing at all.
