Quick question. My girlfriend needs a new laptop but we're trying to stay away from Windows 8. If we buy one with Windows 8 installed, are we still eligible for the free upgrade or is that only for users of 7/8 prior to the release date of 10? I'm guessing the former, I just wanna make sure.

If you have 7 or 8 and it is before July 29 2016, you can get 10.

That's what I figured. Gracias.

Up until a month ago, whenever I'd adjust the volume via my keyboard, a tiny rectangle would appear in the top left corner to show the volume being adjusted. As of last month, for reasons unknown, it now includes this giant rectangle with a REW/PLAY/FFD console and "chrome.exe" (even when I'm not on Chrome). How the hell do I get rid of it?

I'm on a Lenovo E570 Thinkpad if that matters.

Why does opening a jpg or any other image file take so drat long in Windows 10? Up to 20 seconds. Once that first file is open, the rest open normally (or close to it). If I try the next day, it's back to taking super long.
