It took a Texas monthly exposé to reveal that the reason the player want playing was because he was facing indictment for sexual assault.

Briles and staff, when asked, dismissed the questions as, "just some personal stuff".

When a player is facing a jury trial, they should be off the team and off scholarship until it is cleared up. If they're found innocent, then they can rejoin the team. This is like standard procedure stuff.

And don't say that he wasn't on the roster. He was on scholarship and practicing with the team up until 2 weeks ago.

Starr gone. This is part 1 in Baylor's attempt to save Briles. Now we see if it's enough. I doubt it is, considering the mess coming from the football program in the first place.

The Baylor S&C staff was all fired. Speculation is that is related to the cryptic line in the summary report stating that Baylor's drug policy is not up to the standards that it needs to be.

Rumor is that Kendall Briles resigned last night, but no confirmation on that.

I did. Although, if they've found enough that they've deemed it prudent to kick him out I'm not sure where else they need to go from there. They're wrong to kick them out, they're wrong to let them stay, what exactly is the right way to do this?

I think the indication was that if he left without making a stink, the rape investigation would go away. Rather than, you know, continuing through to its end.

Baylor did just that. "We're reviewing the request... blah blah blah... brave survivors... blah blah blah... gently caress off... blah blah blah."

Hard to say, if it's about any ongoing investigation(s) it may not be FOIA-able.

Usually that is left up to a judge (see: Spotlight), but as soon as the investigation is over... Most of that stuff becomes fair game.

And the DA requesting PH's full report and/or their notes used to create the summary report is a precursor to the DA asking the presiding judge to order Baylor/PH to turn over the report/notes.

There was some rumor floating around (probably just grump) about Baylor giving out trucks to top recruits but at this point I wouldn't be surprised at anything.

Not rumor, all surrounds Jarrett Stidham. It's all very creepy and weird.

Stidham was living with Matt Copeland in Stephenville, who is a Baylor alumni & booster. He worked at Copeland's Barefoot Athletics stores. The major investor that allowed Barefoot Athletics to expand into Waco was Art Briles.

Stidham switched commits from TTU to BU and posted about his new truck soon after. Remember: this is a kid from a modest family whose parents are separated, living in different towns.

That's not quite what the WSJ article is saying:

quote:

The National Collegiate Athletic Association has notified Baylor that it won’t exert its executive authority to impose sweeping sanctions against the school for broad institutional failings, and will instead follow its normal investigative process, according to people familiar with the matter.

Basically, they're not going to just straight up punish Baylor, they're going to go through a full investigation.

The end of this story is about 200 people getting together to walk her to class the next day. Neat show of support, though I hope that is not the only action the school takes.
