edit: Best synopsis I can come up with is that Patrick Stewart plays Walter Blunt, a boozing whoring madman of a news anchor. Everything about this is hysterical. I'll be honest I have no idea about this show, I just learned about it not 20 minutes ago and started watching. Not even finished with the pilot yet but when I discovered there was no thread for this show I knew I had to make one. Things so far: Patrick Stewart Patrick Stewart being hilarious Unsurprising cameo Best joke in the first 10 minutes: Oh, so you have an intact penis? Let's just say I have a nine inch clit. Does that bother you? Oh no, I'm English! Blunt Talk airs on Starz on Saturday at 9:00pm. The first two episodes were released online on the 22nd of August HUGE SPACEKABLOOIE fucked around with this message at 09:13 on Aug 24, 2015 |

I liked the first two episodes well enough to keep watching but the overall cast isn't as strong for me as Bored To Death. Not really into the manservant character but at least there's Brett Gelman as his porn producer neighbour. The characters on the show-within-the-show's staff seem pretty bland so far. Stewart's really owning his part though.

Stewart's character is amazing but we are gonna need a more interesting cast to interact with before he gets too repetitive.

This show really deserves a better OP. Hopefully I can get one going in the next few days. Patrick Stewart is just nonstop and I just hope the writing can keep up.

I watched the first two episodes and I thought they were good, but not great. I've heard it picks up after episode 4

I read an interview with Patrick Stewart where he says that the show picks up midseason. He didn't say the beginning was bad, because that's not what actors do when plugging their latest show, but the characters aren't really as developed in the first few episodes. I'm skeptical about this show. Yeah, it's got Patrick Stewart, and I haven't heard about any online outrage over the scene where his character picks up a transgender prostitute (I'm gonna guess the thread title has a line from that scene- I'm just going off information I read from an interview, I haven't watched it yet), so I guess it was tastefully done. But on the other hand, it's got Seth MacFarlene as the producer. Yes, that means he doesn't have too much say in the making of the show, but every time he's passed the buck to one of his proteges that do make those produced shows, we get poo poo like Dads and Robot Chicken, which are still tasteless, stupid, and unfunny in the MacFarlene mold. And he can make funny things when he puts his mind to it, but he doesn't really have a good track record of that as of late. Here's hoping he gave it to someone who's good. I'm gonna play it by ear before I commit.

You're right about the other characters. Patrick Stewart is carrying this all on his own at the moment but I'm ok with it. Even if there were no more episodes to ever air I won't regret having watched it.

None of the other cast members appear to have the energy or charisma to come anywhere near Patrick Stewart's screen presence. It might be asking too much for this to be anything other than a vehicle for Patrick Stewart to continue working and having fun in his twilight years. Hoping that Brett Gelman's character is recurring and starts taking on a bigger role. He's the only person I could see being a match for Stewart so far. edit: the answer is no http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4197508/fullcredits?ref_=tt_cl_sm#cast Moltke fucked around with this message at 18:50 on Sep 2, 2015 |

Ed Begley Jr. is also listed for one episode only and has been in two now, so I guess, sadly, not even the IMDB editors are watching this gem of a show. P.S.: Stewart is the coolest old dude on the planet. P.P.S.: Moby! (Just Moby, no dick) mcbexx fucked around with this message at 13:12 on Sep 13, 2015 |

Haven't watched last nights episode yet but apparently this was picked up for a second season so despite the fact that it appears that about 5 of us watch this, we are getting more. gently caress it, if this show is nothing more than an excuse for Patrick Stewart to be hilarious on my TV then I'll take it.

I love this show so much. My favorite thing is that the characters are all honest in that they always say exactly what they're feeling, and the show treats them with utter kindness.
