How far do you want to travel? The local company gear shop is Eagle Leather on the 512 exit in Lakewood/Tacoma and their other location is in Auburn before you leave town to the Muckleshoot casino.
There's a Cyclegear in Auburn, Tacoma and Lynwood. Any dealer will have gear. Touratech in SODO has more adventure/dual sport style stuff.

Just order the cheapest Bilt gloves off cyclegear.com, keep the invoice, then return/warranty them out at the nearest store when you get a chance to go in. Use what you paid for a decent set of gloves.

I was :psyduck: when a guy complained we couldn't ship to his house, and Kent to Auburn was too far of a drive.

Ok. I have one week left in the Seattle area before moving to Portland. Tuesday after about 11am and Friday morning through about 10 pm are the two days I have to ride.
The question is where I should ride for one last home-to-home ride before moving. I've done hood canal, dewatto/tahuyeha, and us-2 through the northern cascades (among others).
Where do I ride for a day trip?

Buglord
Looks like a good ride, but I might need to keep it a little closer to home: schedule has changed this week and I've only got about half a day to ride on Wednesday.
I'm out of South Seattle/rainier beach. Thinking head ne to fall city and hit 203 through carnation then Monroe and back south?

Well, I failed in getting out for a good ride. Tomorrow will be filled with touch-up paint and filling fixture/picture holes in the walls. I will, however, be having dinner at my parent's house out in Seabeck. At the very least, I can get a Dewatto run in before getting dinner.

Great day for a ride. Hit 6 out to Tillamook and met up with some family. Now we're at rockaway beach and going to track North on 101 until cannon beach then hit 26 back two Portland.
Forgot how piggish the bike gets when riding two up.

For anyone that rides in Portland, I'm asssuming/hoping you know about Germantown road. I somehow road the entirety of it (just off of 26 to the St Johns bridge) without a single car in front of or behind me.

It's a small subform, but crosspost:

The WA lane splitting bill passed the house. It's now moved to the Transportation Committee.

http://blog.motorcycle.com/2017/03/02/motorcycle-community/lane-splitting/

quote:

Should the bill pass all of the hurdles in its path it will allow for lane sharing at speeds of up to 25MPH and with a maximum differential speed of 10MPH.

http://app.leg.wa.gov/billsummary?BillNumber=5378&Year=2017

Here's the digest:

quote:

Allows the operator of a motorcycle to overtake and pass
in the same lane occupied by the vehicle being overtaken, but
only on the left-hand side of the vehicle and only in the
left-most lane of traffic and only if certain conditions are
met.
Prohibits an operator of a motor vehicle from
intentionally impeding or attempting to prevent an operator
of a motorcycle from operating the motorcycle as permitted.
Requires the department of transportation, when it has
opened the use of the shoulder of a limited access facility
for public transportation vehicles, to allow motorcycles to
use the shoulder during the same time periods and conditions.

Even if it passed, I'd still give it some time for motorists to get used it being legal. The problem I see with this bill is that it will only be allowed on divided, numbered, state highways, and only in the farthest left lane.
Based on the number of idiots I came across who thought that this passed last year, we'll probably see more bikers raging about those drat cagers and getting tickets for not legally splitting. poo poo, one guy I talked to swore up and down that it was legal, you could split in any lane you wanted, and could split at 60+. Spoiler: He was a gixxxr bro.

There's a Cyclegear in Lynwood, Auburn, and Tacoma. Don't buy Bilt. Buy name brand. There are also dealers all over. Bent Bike sucks IMO. A note for Cyclegear- take in your MSF completion card within 30 days after passing the course, and you'll get %15 off every item on one purchase that isn't already on sale. With tax it's really only 5% off, but hey, discount.

E: CG also price matches online (other than ebay and amazon). And for disclosure I work for CG.

Whatever you do don't buy a Buell. Harley doesn't even acknowledge they exist, so parts support is going to suck. The blast is also a terrible bike. nthing the ninja 250/500 rec. TBH the SV650 is another reliable bike that's not a terrible first bike, either.
