I love how obsessed the scanlators are with the elf girl spinning on her head. its really funny fanart

Also when they first said there was some dungeon master to defeat i thought it might be the dungeon chef dude but hopefully this manga runs longer than that lame ending

If I had to take a guess they might turn the dungeon into a world-famous hunt-your-own-game reserve and teach people monster cooking recipes. :v:

yeah that's absolutely the ending if he becomes king, but whether the main guy gets there by defeating the dungeon's final level and eating the boss or the weirdo dude being the final boss the whole time and "you respect the dungeon like i do, you are my worthy successor" (i think this would be lame) might be a function of how long the manga runs before getting canceled

I'm hoping they rescue the sister and keep going because she turns out to be a monster eater too and elf girl freaks out

e: or they turn it into a restaurant with a get-your-own ingredients thing and then they cook it

I don't either, but i'd prefer it ended when the author was finished with their ideas instead of prematurely. I have no clue where raws are compared to translations, or how the manga industry works in japan for small stuff like this though

- Introduces a new adventuring party of high-minded elves, being interrupted by a rude arrival.
- Shows their internal group dynamic
- Shows how they relate to the world ( see how frightened and angry the locals are )
- Shows the character of each party member
- Hints at new worldbuilding through torn ears, fashion and tattoos
- Reinforces existing worldbuilding with monster trophies and fine food that the protagonists don't have
- Establishes location and moves the story forward.

All in one shot. That is some economical, gorgeous storytelling.

Like what you guys said, most isekais read like excerpts from the author's masturbatory wish fulfillment fantasies, but this one isn't gross, is lighthearted, and I'm enjoying how wholesome it is. Plus the art is nice and the characters are cute

it's impressive how bad that is. you don't even have the typical isekai tropes of the hero being this everyman for the audience learning everything that's different about the world while being overpowered. Nope its just some guy checking out what his old harem has been up to while he was gone.

There's an isekai no skill taker, and if i remember correctly it is terrible. Maybe in the "lovely drivel" way that people might want as a palate cleanser.

I remember one about a dude being reincarnated as a goblin and eating monsters to get their knowledge that was interesting, if dumb. Then they find humans and there’s a huge justification for why he’s cool with eating sentient things. Then there is a bunch of sexual assault of his prisoners and a bunch of other awful stuff

Does anyone know an isekai where the guy could only posess monsters in a dungeon (he’s like a ghost or spirit) and ends up helping some adventuring party and posessing a familiar to escape? I feel like that’s where the scanlation ended but it also might have just gotten lame after that

Also slime guy manga is pretty good, I kinda wish there was a little more internal friction on his side and that the monster town was a little more wild but eh, its lighthearted

Its cool that Villager dove into a fun slavery sideplot for no reason other than to give a character an extra tragic backstory. At least the MC didn’t try to buy the character to circumvent the slavery magic and instead works towards removing it

The best parts are when he gets surprised about the world being hosed because of his meddling, the boring parts are when the fuckups have zero consequence, like most isekai. It does have some good crazyface on all the characters though

I’m curious where this manga is going. I am very down for the story of adventurer grandpa enjoying the finer things in life, while occasionally being underestimated and kicking rear end, and I hope it continues since it has been high quality.

But I could also see it ending since most of the current plot has been resolved and I think the only thing hanging is the mercenary’s plot? The next chapter is the last of the volume and the title is Bard’s horse’s name :ohdear:

I know most things in this thread have just been filtering over to wholesome isekai because of similar power fantasy themes, but whatever

Is it odd that I became an adventurer even if I graduated from the witchcraft institute

William is a mage in a world where only dropouts and low skill mages become adventurers. However he wants to be an adventurer, despite graduating top in his class. And of course he meets a party of lovely ladies who need a fourth member

Is this the start of a heart-throbbing harem adventure with an overpowered protagonist??!?

No. In fact he is so overpowered that he initially erodes their self-esteem dangerously low. However they quickly learn that this nerd has his own weak points, especially not knowing any social interaction whatsoever.

Not to say there isn't any doki-doki! They come across his childhood friends and his companions show zero restraint in meddling in his love life. They absolutely show no desire towards him themselves, he is just too much of a weirdo.

All in all, this is a pretty nice comic where the side cast react convincingly towards the overpowered MC, and the MC's character flaws are not too annoying. I enjoy the antics of the cast and it was a fun read for someone who has read waaay too much lovely isekai lately. The art is also great, there are some great faces and reactions.

Yeah, this is a very well done manga, the art style shifts going on remind me of Fullmetal Alchemist or something. One question about the latest arc though who is responsible for this 'orcs capture and breed elves' trope and how do I make them stop?

I considered putting some sort of warning for this content, but decided against it because while things are implied there (and in the ghost arc), they never show anything and it didn't feel lurid. Also it felt like one caveat too far for "hey this looks bad/tropey but it's actually really good".

To answer your question: if I knew I would find them. not only is it porn-y, it doesn't even make biological sense!!!
