JOINING THE SA FORUMS WILL REMOVE THIS BIG AD, THE ANNOYING UNDERLINED ADS, AND STUPID INTERSTITIAL ADS!!!

You can: log in, read the tech support FAQ, or request your lost password. This dumb message (and those ads) will appear on every screen until you register! Get rid of this crap by registering your own SA Forums Account and joining roughly 150,000 Goons, for the one-time price of $9.95! We charge money because it costs us money per month for bills, and since we don't believe in showing ads to our users, we try to make the money back through forum registrations.

What ever happened to all the J-list ads? Those creepy anime ads were the best.

Not enough. Bring back J-list.

The bad ad problem has been resolved, therefore bad ads are not the problem. I, for one, blame mobile devices. Everyone throw away your iphones and androids, and go back to desktops as god intended.

Your computer just doesn't 'get' FYAD.

I am in Canada, if that makes a difference. Windows 10. Chrome.

For the last few days I've been getting a super annoying ad often. It starts out as a normal ad for Knots Berry Farm. And if I click on it then it remains an ad for Knots Berry Farm.

Clicking leads me to here: https://www.knotts.com/?utm_source=RTB&utm_medium=CPC&utm_campaign=Branding&utm_term=HomePage

But if I don't click on it in about 10 seconds it changes to a tiny video with sound ad for Pfizer. It grabs control of the screen yanks me back to the top so I can see the tiny video. If I try to scroll back down to what I was reading it keeps grabbing focus back to the top.

Whether I click it or not, when the video ends it switches back to the ad for Knotts Berry Farm for a second, then loads the Phizer video again. Repeat.

If I click the video for just a second the address bar says this:
https://adclick.g.doubleclick.net/p...XAXIS_EN_PJVJ3Z

Then it switches to this: https://www.pfizeroriginals.ca/?cmp=XAXIS_EN_PJVJ3Z

I've gotten it over a dozen times this morning.

Update: I disabled adobe Flash and now it stays stuck as a an ad for knott's berry farm. So that's good, I guess.

Lowtax I love this site, it's honestly one of the last good places online and if you need money, I would gladly pay $1-10/month via patreaon or whatever to access this. I think maybe $10 as a one time access fee is too low, monetize us a bit more, I mean I pay for cum podcasts, I'm willing to give you money but it's gotta be automated because im a lazy gently caress and I forget poo poo.

Easy solution: buy hundreds more ads. With hundreds of ads in rotation the bad one will hardly ever be seen.

tl:dr – Don’t delete it or make it seem like we’re covering up our past “ugliness.” Move it away from prominent areas and add some context saying that “ya we were like this, but we’re better now, we’ve grown.”

I'm not sure that a place "less prominent" exists. It's a 14 year old comedy blog post. This isn't equivalent to removing confederate statues from the park, it's already out of the park and in the back of a store room in the museum's sub basement. The kids aren't just randomly stumbling upon it when they take a wrong turn from tiktok.

Anyway, the main problem I see with either deleting or cornfielding old content is that someone would have to do it by hand. Like, a real human being. A real human being reading every line of 20 years of internet comedy history. And then having to decide if each page is worthy or shameful. No disrespect, but don't think Lowtax has it in him to take on this task. I think it's more likely to get the entire front page archive shut down than to result in a curated collection of wholesome content.

Alternately it could be a Goon Project where a bunch of people volunteer to do the work . . . and that's a nuclear drama bomb we can all see coming a mile a way.

Ignoring problems isn't a great way to deal with them, but I can't imagine a way to to actually sort the wheat from the chaff effectively for zero dollars.

If you want specific things looked at you should link them. It's silly to expect a neckcripple to sit at his computer googling or whatever to find the pages you don't like.
