Hi I have a qq identifying a anime. So please help.

What's the anime that was on some major streaming platform (I think) and it was kind of science and horror and a lot of talking? It might have been American maybe. There was a bit of fan support but they canceled it/didn't pick it back up iirc. Google says Channel Zero? I remember a clip and it had a guy's head blowing up and lots of science and it was cool.

Been watching Serial Experiments Lain and I still don't understand it, but cool vibes. Must be where vaporwave came from, huh. Any other suggests for sci/fi/horror animes ? Stein's gate is cool too :thanks:

Recommend me a reverse isekai. Doesn't have to be anime, manga and light novels are fine too.

Welcome to Japan, Elf-san! is a guy who gets isekai'd when he sleeps, and when he wakes up, he gets un-isekai'd. one day his companion, an elf, winds up back in japan with him. it's relatively laid back and fun.

Although it has genuinely amazing animation. Alicization/War of the Underworld have spectacular visual effects.

Infinite Dendrogram isn't an amazing show, but it does a good job of holding to its VRMMO world's internal rules without breaking them arbitrarily for cheap drama and power creep. Even the villains are just other players bound to the rules, they're just high-end players, and it's a fun little show all round.

I've been enjoying a lot of the manga recommendations I got from this thread earlier for romance-y stuff that's actually got the romance happening more than just endless will-they won't-they and is somewhat low on fan service (though sexual themes and poo poo are a-ok for me - I'm just not super into, like, gratuitous panty shots outside of explicitly intimate scenes or actual erotica or pornography. If I'm seeing someone naked in this context I want it to have a narrative as well as titillating purpose). I think I also asked for adult protags in particular and for manga about relationships rather than just courtship, and I think I said it was cool whatever combo of people the main couple was. I got a buncha great recs for straight couples and a buncha great yuri recs, so this time I'm explicitly asking for recs for gay male romance or rom-com type manga that otherwise meets my criteria. Hit me with your faves.

I'm also thinking about posting some thoughts and reactions about the recommendations I got that I've read - do you think that makes more sense here or in the shoujo/josei/romance thread? I guess I will just post once I have enough time at the keyboard to get my thoughts together.

Magical Girls Magical Destroyers from last year is that good trash, and considering most of the principal cast, it may as well be reverse isekai

Completely unrelated to isekai trash, I've been reading Tonikaku Kawaii, and it's excellent. Haven't been watched the anime, but I hear it's good.

But the manga is super cute. There's more to it, and it peels back the layers really well.

Two different ends of the reverse isekai nonsense spectrum: Thermae Romae and Female Knight Showed Up (some more words in that title, i ain't typing all that). and yeah, Pairipi Koumei / Ya Boy Kongming(!!!) is also worth a read/watch.

every once in a while i try to look around for good m/m romances, but at least in my limited experience it's harder to find one of those that isn't super formulaic than it is for f/f pairings, despite the output being much larger for the former. maybe i'm just not searching in the right places, but once you move past the by-the-numbers uke/seme stuff, most of the quality outliers will be set in high school, spend ages in will-won't-they territory, or both, so i'd appreciate suggestions as well.
i haven't gotten around to reading My Brother's Husband, but I hear it's good, and somewhat related to that, Dad, the Beard Gorilla, and I is not m/m but clearly relies on the appeal of its male leads.

Lots of romantic comedies have the setup where the male lead is a comparatively subdued, passive, and practical man, who's brought by coincidence into contact with the female lead, a comparatively glamorous, proactive, and eccentric woman. What's your favorite that has the opposite premise, where it's a consciously "ordinary" woman falling into the orbit of a more interesting man, while keeping the emphasis more on the "comedy" part of romantic comedy?

Tonikaku Kawaii/Fly Me To The Moon... kind of?

Nasa (the guy) isn't like super quirky or whatever, but he convinces Tsukasa (the girl) to come out of her shell and try having a relationship again after her having resigned herself to not connecting with anyone.

There's more to it that I can't go into without spoiling it though.

Also the story begins with him asking her out and her telling him she'll go out with him if he marries her (in an attempt to get him to say no) only for him to say yes :v:.
