Could be something fishy with the clutch? master/slave cylinder? It shouldn't be like that.

I'm exaggerating. The pedal is not mushy and the clutch is definitely doing its job. Mostly, stalling out on that hill half a dozen times rattled me a bit. Really, I just need to adjust things a little, like having the brake pedal over an inch forward of the gas is about 90% of the reason I kept stalling it, kinda hard to work both with a size 14 foot.

Yeah the whole "moving engagement point" sounds exactly like how my truck was behaving until I replaced the CMC. After replacing it it shifts great, and the engagement stays exactly where I want it instead of moving from one inch off the floor to six inches off the floor from one shift to the next. The most wild part was when it would decide to move the engagement point while I was trying to find it, leading to some embarrassing moments in traffic.
