Interestingly, the SBS from volume 79 said something about this. Apparently, there are different ranks for Devil Fruits, some "higher" than others. The examples given in that SBS are: quote:Ton Ton (Machvise) > Kilo Kilo (Ms. Valentine) (It should also be noted that a person with a higher tier ability is NOT necessarily stronger than those with the "lesser" ability.) I suppose Doflamingo and Leo follow the same thing going on here, with Doflamingo's fruit as the "higher ranked" one.
