If people actually gave a poo poo about the damages otc drugs are doing to people then alcohol would be prescription only not codeine. Booze has way more of an impact on societies health than codeine does and having to get a script from your doctor to say you can have a beer after work would stop tonnes of hospital visits for alcohol related injuries and abuse. It would also make the roads safer and free up a lot more police resources to deal with other problem.
