Part 8: The Spiders Are All In Tune New episode, heavily featuring spiders. I finally get to show off a randomizer exclusive trick, and also Dish talks about pizza a whole lot. We also beat goron race with little difficulty, no thanks to my loving co-commentators who refused to hold hands with each other and chant, even a little bit.

Calling Twilight Princess a "bad game" is kind of unfair. I thought it had among the best dungeons and boss battles in the entire series. The rest of the game is ugly, boring, and lacking in charm at worst.

The dungeons are mostly ehh; the forest/spirit one is bad and the only other one that sticks in memory is the yeti manor which was actually pretty decent. The boss battles are universally awful. Wait for boss to make themselves vulnerable, use dungeon item on boss, stun boss, hit with sword, repeat. It's playing out a glorified quicktime event, with a ton of waiting in between opportunities to actually make progress. Twilight Princess in general was bad enough to convince me to stop buying Zelda games sight-unseen.

Yeti and sumo wrasslin' was good enough for me to consider it an alright game that I would like to play through exactly once and never again.

"Wait for boss to be vulnerable" is basically how Zelda bosses have always been since they became 3D. I just thought they were a little more fun in TP. Oh well MagicBoots posted:Ugly, boring and lacking in charm. But otherwise a good game. I said the non-dungeon parts. Shame you reset the cycle, Doc. Didn't you miss the chance to get the other scrub title deeds? You were holding one of them when you saved, but I can't remember what item gave it to you.

Oh well Counterpoint: Majora's Mask. It is amazing how much better the fights are in MM vs. in Ocarina of Time; practically every enemy is either always vulnerable to something or can be baited into making themselves vulnerable. Then Wind Waker came along and they forgot everything they learned.

I need to find Swamp and Mountain Title deed, and turn them in to get whatever items I get from Mountain and Ocean scrubs.

Haha I guess we'll have to agree to disagree because apart from Goht and Majora they were either irritating (Gyorg) or just outright boring (Odolwa and Twinmold). DoctorKill posted:I can't just get more scrub title deeds, I have to wait until I find them. I assume you eventually picked up the real item, thus killing your chances of picking it up again? I just vaguely remember one of your guests talking about it.

He got the town deed from the Ocean Spider House, and then traded it in for beans. Since the spider house only gives it's prize once, Dr. Kill can never get the town deed or magic beans again, barring glitch trickery. Good thing both of those are basically worthless!

So this isn't relevant to the Randomizer, but in my OoT thread I posted this:DoctorKill posted:Fun fact about the Shadow Temple: if you aren't wrong warping into it, it REQUIRES you to have Zelda's Lullaby, for the boat. But this is no longer true! I'm a bit late in mentioning it but about a month ago Skater, the same person who discovered GIM and a whole bunch of other tricks, proved you could get to the boss room without riding the boat, and a decently easy setup was made over the next few days. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WAtn0GQfbmw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dmnbe1d56gE Just thought I'd post that for anyone who's interested, it's a really cool trick.

Yeah that was a good run, all the runners are talented players and they keep the commentary up, or at least one of them does. I just don't usually recommend 100% runs to people because they are very long and I get the impression most people don't like watching such long runs. I was really into it though. Glad I could help you understand what was going on though! I probably managed to show off most of the tricks they use in some fashion but there's a lot of small things they do for heart pieces, or some Japanese exclusive things. One particularly cool moment is here, getting the heart piece in Pirate Fortress, which uses a setup that only works in JP version. You could probably do the trick in English but as far as I know no one's made a consistent way of doing it. Cool stuff though.

That heart piece was the only time in watching a speedrun where I was as excited watching it as the guy was explaining it. How would anyone have thought of doing that?

Part 9: Stoned in Pirates Fortress, Making Some Unagi This one's another low key episode, but we finish up messing around with sword upgrades, and I test out a theory I had about bottle duping. Other than that, we clear out Pirate Fortress and the Eel Spire, which I didn't show off in the main LP. Too bad there's no cool tricks in there! Just eels.

I noticed these threads get few posts for some reason, so I thought I'd say that this is a really good interesting LP, it's literally the only SA LP I'm watching, and I haven't watched an SA LP in donkey years . Super interesting, good job, A++++-+; I put a minus in there because nothing's perfect, no 10/10s from me.

Part 10: I Want to Beat Great Bay, I Want to Eat the Moon. The next few episodes turn out to be very productive! We get a lot of stuff done in this episode alone, getting through the archery games and great bay temple, as well as a few other things. We also learn a little bit about ourselves, and a whole lot about Dish. The main goal right now, besides beating dungeons, is trying to find Kafei's mask, because there are a couple of items locked behind that quest. Finding the Deku Princess is also important since she's required for a mask. So those are our Holy Grails. Also, I know the pace of the LP has been a bit slow, at least slower than the main ones, so I'm gonna try to put out videos a little faster. We actually don't have that much left to go so I should be able to manage it.

The discussion of familiarity with motion in different games struck home pretty hard for me; I grew up on Mega Man and I definitely have trouble in Super Mario or 3D Zeldas. I do have to say though that your Zora handling is actually really great; seeing you blaze around and corner with Zora form is something that makes me want to play Majora's Mask more than really anything else I see about it.

Dish is actually being very modest, to tell you the truth this LP is mostly him. Between scripting out every word we say and the constant iterations he makes on the bot that is actually playing the game (to make it seem more realistic), he spends around 40-50 hours a week on this venture. I don't even physically speak anymore, I gave him sound samples of me saying all possible English phonemes and he just stitches them all together to make audio. I'm just coasting right now, poo poo's great.

New episode! I thought Dish did a great job making up my audio, everything you crafted sounds exactly like stuff I would say! Part 11: Stone Tower more like Bone Boner We finished all over Great Bay in the last episode, and in this one we take in Stone Tower. Since we already have the light arrows, the dungeon let's us come inside easily, and we penetrate its depths, turn it inside out, and deal with its one eyed monster, before the episode comes to a premature and unsatisfying ending, all the while having a nice conversation about how people see innuendo everywhere, even when it's not there. I had a bit of trouble finding a good stopping point for this episode so it's stops before we complete Stone Tower, that'll be for next time. We get all the fairies though, and I get to show off a few things new things, mostly bat-related. We also talk about Dark Souls, because people can't play video games anymore without referencing it.
