The Mentalizer posted:

Is there any particular reason (other than Zoss' God-like powers) that he shouldn't be able to? According to 6 Juggernaut's story he didn't become 'true royalty' (at which point he ascended to his position as king of all creation/new God) until he spoke to Metatron. If he was able to smite the prime angels before acquiring the full power of Yisun then it seems like an igneous angel should be able to cut his head off, God-king or not. But maybe there's some detail I missed or forgot, or I'm misinterpreting the story (which, being a goon, is quite possible).

It just seems unlikely in the context of what we know about Zoss' absurd level of supernatural badassery.

At the moment I'm inclined to believe Zoss let it happen. I fully expect it to be more complicated than that by far.

It's probably a mix of respect, awe, and fear; what she did to bind Princess probably shouldn't have been possible, especially for a devil of that power. They probably realize better than the magi that poo poo's going to go down, now that they've seen her in action.

That's what I took from it. The way they're all chanting "Hail" as she departs leads me to believe that the demons/devils, more than anyone, grasp that poo poo Has Gotten Real.

Nope, know for a fact I'm not. In the lighting of that scene, you'd expect his eyes to be a fair bit darker if they were brown. They look indistinct, but on the blue side given the shade on the upper half of his face.

Edit: For clarity's sake, the preceding pages make it fairly obvious they're not supposed to be blue. This is just an explanation for why I thought so originally. I was referencing just this particular anomalous page.

I'm skeptical that this is really Zoss, and Allison choosing to embrace power like this is going to lead to dark places. This whole Mottom thing screams foreshadowing. She's even embracing power via killing the same dude.

I don't think power is inherently bad in this story. It's been pretty repeatedly critical of those who do not have the courage to act, and per Zoss' explanation and our own observation Allison's power directly correlates to her willingness to take action. She's not "embracing" power, she's gaining power by virtue of doing.

Mottom is someone who embraced power and was defined by it, true power comes from defining the world and yourself.

All this Mottom backstory and the ridiculously intricate artwork that went into it is there for more than just making Mottom a cool and interesting character and foreshadowing seems like the most likely reason.

edit: re: your edit, that I can get and it may be the difference, but I think allison's going to a dark place before she goes to a good one and that its going to mirror mottom's journey

This whole thing really reminds me a whoooole lot of Aldia's ruminations in Scholar of the First Sin.

Not one of the Demiurges is a true ruler. The universe has cut them a shape, and they fill it, but they do not wield names as Zoss did and Allison aspires to.

This post with Operant has him now claiming Allison pulled the needle out the entire time. We know he’s telling the truth because he’s been saying this from the very beginning, right?

No, of course not. Up until this interview he’s talked about it as a change to “fix” the character.

I guess we call call this “Allison Pulled the Needle Out Excuse: The Special Edition”. He’s gone back to his own excuses and edited them to make them “better”. Much like the Star Wars: Special Edition changes all he’s doing is pointing out how terribly his thought processes works.

First, let’s compare two versions (there are multiple versions of the changes, this just has one):

In the original there’s only speedlines from the angel's head, no signal to the audience at all that Allison moved anything. If he meant for viewers to know Allison didn't develop telekinesis, first his storytelling ability is worse than Stephan Meyer’s. At least in Twilight we know who is doing what, even though we don’t care because it’s terrible.
