From what we know, the specializations are going to be very hero point intensive. So if you stock up now, you don't need to farm them at launch to get your sweet engineer hammer or w/e. I 'm guessing he means that.

People levelling new revs, you having fun? I think that's what I'm gonna do first, and hope Anet fixes/rebalances elite unlocking.

I boosted mine straight to 80 with full berserker gear, and it's a blast. Became my main over warrior instantly. Hammer is just so much fun. I use staff for melee which I like, sword seems slightly underperforming. 1 and 2 don't feel like they do as much damage as they should. Sword 3 and hammer 3 are also like extra dodge rolls because you vanish while doing them and thus you can evade big hits while doing damage :v:

The very first part of crafting The Chosen (anthology of heroes) requires 13 sheets of quality paper which is an account bound level 300 scribe material.

That's cool, totally missed that unlocking. Might go for that as well, it must have a unique skin? Getting a normal marauder's ascended longbow would probably be faster at least.

Yeah, all those unlocks have a unique skin that is like the weapon you get when you unlock your first elite specialization "talent", but flashier.

I leveled my Guardian to 80 way back but didn't really like it. It felt like a slower, boring warrior to me.

But. I tried DH yesterday and Arus did not lie. Dragonhunter is Good. I gave the cat a new look to celebrate.

Fresh Air Dagger Ele is my favorite but you can't play it lazily like staff

https://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Tempest_-_Fresh_Air_DPS_(R)

Metabattle has a bunch of builds, look at raid and fractal categories. Just slot a speed boost somewhere for general PvE, like Signet of Air for Elementalist.

Elementalist has a ton of targeted AoE abilities though and is reliant on movement for survival. I think Warrior, Guardian and Ranger are better recommendations.

And yeah Mesmer is a bit of a love/hate class that picks up rather slowly. I found it rather frustrating to play solo with.

My question: with the changes to WvW coming, I want to dress a lesser-used character of mine for WvW. I was thinking about this zerg healer Druid https://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Druid_-_Frontline_Healer but I know gently caress all about druids. Since I'm interested in getting rewards from WvW, does a staff Druid adequately tag enemies so that WvW loot bags drop? There doesn't seem to be targeted AoE damage in its toolbox which is the easiest form of tagging.

I noticed that Minstrel armor is expensive as gently caress (what the hell, freshwater pearls @ 8g+ per) so instead of gearing that WvW healer druid that might get shafted on rewards, I decided to just buy my warrior a hammer. Apparently, my PvE berserker build gear pretty seamlessly transitions to a WvW build if I just switch my second weapon to a hammer with 2 PvP sigils.

Also why do hammers have so many great skins while greatswords don't? Almost all GS skins are gaudy or grotesque slabs while I'd prefer something more.. grounded. There's only three greatsword skins I like; Mistwild, Ascalonian and Gallant. Merciless would be good if it didn't have the middle part. Mistwild GS looks so great but to get it you have to complete a level 99 fractal and  if that's ever going to happen.

Here's my battle cat:

https://metabattle.com/wiki/WvW for build guides. The stat choices aren't for the most part set in stone, how much you dedicate to offense and defense comes down to personal preference.

When it comes to team fights, Guardians have always been on top due to the incredible support they provide. Currently Reapers are ~the meta~ dps, but seriously nobody cares what you bring to a public zerg. If you find a commander who has enough time to individually scrutinize people's builds then :laffo:

"Private" guild groups are a different thing of course but they don't want outsiders no matter what build they run.

also I really do not enjoy playing mesmer, it's likely because I am bad as h*ck

Seconding Necro, it's a walking apocalypse and more forgiving because of its natural tankiness. Elementalist is fun (especially dagger mainhand) but it's keyboard piano and that might not be your thing.

It's worth noting that the Necro's next elite spec is called the Blighter and is swinging a torch, while Reaper was a power spec. I think it's a safe bet that it's going to focus on conditions.
