So uh apparently a live action adaptation of Unicorn is in the works?

Even if this is just some fanwork...Why? Why does this exist?

Sayla owns and it's quite sad that she never got to be more involved with the rest of the UC shows.

Elle and Roux were both pretty good. It's kind of mind boggling that they exist in the same show with loving Beecha.

That's far from the most ridiculous thing in Victory Gundam too.

FWIW it took me about six months to get through Victory Gundam. In that same timeframe I moved halfway across the United States twice.

It's by far the least interesting Gundam series imo. Maybe not the worst technically, but I'd say even Destiny manages to be more entertaining and interesting despite (Because of?) probably being the worse show.

I think the Victory Gundam Side Story manga is kind of cool though, where Usso meets old man Judau Ashta.

The best Zeta episodes are the ones Imagawa did.

Raxivace

Does Usso being Char's grandson really add much to Victory as it is?

Like it's kind of a neat idea to connect it back to early UC, but as it stands it doesn't change too much. It would have been cool to use as an explicit plot point though, like maybe the League Militaire exploiting Usso's ancestry for propaganda purposes in the same way the Gundam name and imagery has been exploited.

I was thinking the other day about how I don't really know when I first heard of Gundam. All I can remember was somehow already knowing about Gundam before Wing was on Toonami because when the ads first starting appearing I thought, "ah I'll finally get to see what this gundam thing is all about."

Maybe it was from those anime ads in magazines like EGM or something

You knew what a Gundam was because people in Japan knew already. You know because you share a connection with them.

What's with Kamille's change in condition between the end of Zeta and ZZ? At the end of Zeta he just seemed to have reverted back to a four year old, and in ZZ he seems full on comatose.

Random question, but there's been a like a million variations of the 0079 story at this point between all of the games and comics and books and so on...have any of these alternate takes on the story ever featured Amuro straight up defecting to Zeon with the Gundam, and then explored the ramifications of that?

Yeah ZZ is pretty good, though be warned it is not an anime unlike the other Gundam shows.

I really wish they would have just come out about Guin being gay earlier in the series. Waiting until literally the last episode to use it as a plot twist always sat kind of wrong with me.

Also he needed even more fancy, cool suits. He is still the best dressed character in all of Gundam to this day. Like he should have rivaled the number of suits De Niro wore in Casino.

Raxivace
Sep 9, 2014

Hmm maybe there are hints that I've missed then or dialogue that I interpreted incorrectly (The subs I had could have been bad too)- would be interesting for me to look at in a rewatch. I will say though that I do think a lot of it did just come off as "lol Tomino" to me.

Like even Guin forcing Loran to crossdress doesn't actually seem that unusual when it's coming from the guy that did those silly ZZ crossdressing episodes. I had just figured he did it to mess with him and be demeaning for the sake of it.

Build Fighters is essentially about competitive video game players that play a Gundam fighting game. Except instead of a video game they fight with Gundam toys that are able to move with some magical particle bullshit.

A lot of people really like the goofy characters and the light-hearted plot, though personally I think the whole thing isn't written very well. Still, it's got solid action and a genuinely good OST.

The sequel series, Build Fighters Try, is the same thing but worse in all aspects.

How would you guys improve AGE, while at least loosely staying true to the core ideas of the show? I know a lot of people think Flit just straight up being the final boss would have been a lot better, though having Kio or Asemu fight him would probably feel forced.

I find myself thinking this about a lot things in this show that aren't so interesting as of now. I don't hate this show or anything, but I find it to be much more of a mixed bag than others are.
