Scouring my neurons for the oldest meme I can recall, it must be XCoffee, aka the Trojan Room Coffee Machine. The first webcam in existence was created to give programmers a steady hook to their caffeine supply. In many ways, a brisk and wholesome era. There is no stage of the development of the (generally-accessible) internet that I don't remember, but this particular one makes me feel like the old lady who saw the Wright Brothers stagger into the air when she was a child, and lived to see the moon landings. Having existed in some form or another since 1992, the final, fully online, image-based Trojan Room Coffee service was switched off in August 2001, as sure an augury as any that the world was in for some major upheaval.

Does anyone remember a little flash animation, very much of this era - It involved a simple character in a sort of Weebl-ish style stepping onto a square or a button that played a short burst of drum'n'bass music that bounced it around? That's a rather horrible description but if anyone knows what it is please tell me!

I'm on phone so I don't have the videos on hand, but someone thought it would be funny to show me Boom Headshot and Nintendo 64!!! in TYOOL 2015.  Best part is, since where I am currently wouldn't have even had internet access until after Facebook, no one else he showed had actually seen them. Way to make me feel like an internet hipster. Come to think of it, is The Game sufficiently old and internet-based enough to count? Probably not.
