Bobnumerotres posted:i actually hate watching those speedruns lol. the glitching gets to the point where he may as well noclip through everything The tomb raider anniversary speedrun is basically this and absolutely ridiculous bc it's just watching Lara somersault down hallways until the game resets their state and they glitch out again.

Someone post the SDGQ Prince of Persia run where the guy uses some dumb glitch to clip through walls and he keeps loving up over and over and then the game crashes and it goes on for like 2 hours.

Also someone post the creepy Bandicoot kid who kept being really loving awkward and making jokes about killing everyone but he was actually serious.

getting the space jump first in metroid prime 1 is the best sequence break of all time IMO because it just 100% breaks the first third of the game and anyone can do it. they made it a lot harder for the wii but it's still doable

i'm programming and its making me understand a lot of these bugs like buffers not being cleared and misaligned data and overflows you can modify disgaea 2 so your name is an obscene length and eventually it'll just start executing code cool overflows: in ff6 if you throw the atma weapon it doesnt even know what to do for damage and since it doesn't have a damage value the enemy's death is just called i think in ff7 if you grind vincent up enough he starts to hit for negative damage so it just calls the enemy's death in morrowind if you get too smart/strong/fast it loops over to negative and is sadly never a good thing Doctor Goat fucked around with this message at 17:35 on Oct 31, 2015 |

what ive always been curious about in that mario TAS and similar arbitrary code stuff is that it's all done with button inputs, so once they break the game, does the game just start letting you select any character with button presses and you can actually write out whatever?

Doctor Goat posted:cool overflows: There's a rare overflow bug in Xenoblade chronicles that causes Riki's strength stat to permanently plummet to about -32,770 because it's stored as a signed 16-bit value. The result is a riki that does only 1hp of damage most of the time but every now and then he'll bonk an enemy and deal like 800,000 damage. Overflow bugs are the loving best and they're the reason you can gently caress up Pokemon and ff6 in such spectacular ways.

they also did that 'pokemon plays twitch' where they had the twitch chat fed into the emulator and outputting all the text on the screen, including custom emotes

When I learned about the Relm Sketch Bug from FF6 (use Relm, sketch an invisible enemy, watch the game explode) I promptly rented it from Blockbuster and fried some other guy's save. For science! It mostly just flooded my inventory with items and corrupted the save data. I highly suggest anyone with the means to fiddle around with it. It's great fun.

If you sketch Gau in the veldt it does the same thing. Gave me +2,000 dirks.

There's a specific ledge you can perch on in Arkham City and then do cape stuns and you will start going straight up into the air. Do this enough times and you can glide straight over the walls of the city and fly through the Gotham skybox in the background, which isn't solid. It is awesome.

You can explore outside of every Borderlands map using Sledge's Shotgun like this. If you are shot in the feet in PVP with Sledge's Shotgun, it launches you incredibly high up in the air and often over map boundaries. You can skip backtracking by launching people like that too which rules. Rust Commons East is actually almost complete and tacked on to the side of Rust Commons West so they were probably just one map at one point.
