I read this essay, I think the author makes a mixture of valid and utterly nuts points. The part I found most interesting was his suggestion that while "post-structuralist" criticisms are valid, and helpful to those who have already internalised and appreciated the value of "structures", introducing them too early can prevent people developing that appreciation in the first place. (An analogy might be impressing on young children the importance Gödel's incompleteness theorems and the lack of an "interpretation-free" notion of logic... before they've learnt to multiply integers) He also talks about a whole bunch of other stuff, at varying degrees of plausibility, but it's quite hard to condense. Please debate any of it, and related points, here. (I'm aware the author is... pretty kooky, but let's restrict ourselves to this essay and not his other stuff)
