Glowku posted:As the title indicates I have hit a point in my life where I really want to play another turn based rpg in the final fantasy style. 2d or 3d doesn't matter, I just desire the progression and world exploration that comes with the genre. edit: oh you got that one trails of cold steel comes out at the end of the month, it's in the same world but has a different cast and plot, and fairly similar gameplay. shadow hearts is one of my favorites - you want to play the original, then shadow hearts: covenant. from the new world is decent but it's a lot goofier, which can be either a plus or a minus depending on who you are. shadow hearts is neat because it's this semi-modern horror game, the first game takes place pre-world war 1 and the second game actually takes place mid world war 1, and while the plot isn't directly about the war it does impact it, especially once you get to russia and japan in the second game. combat is timing based, if you ever played lost odyssey it's basically the same system (a lot of shadow hearts devs worked on lost odyssey). If you haven't, think the mario RPGs, sort of. When you enter a command a ring pops up and you have to stop the spinning arrow on the 'good' parts of the ring for extra damage/healing/hits/whatever. pretty fun.
