The Navy should use their own resources to defend their assets, it makes perfect logical sense.

Nevermind that the IJN ships are transporting IJA troops. Ships must be defended by naval assets.

The IJN is clearly incapable of safely transporting IJA troops. The IJA must requisition troop transports and escorts under IJA command posthaste to ensure that the invasion timetable continues on schedule!

Damage from a torp + systems damage from limping from hex to hex with zero fuel is enough to sink a carrier.

The Lurline had a hell of a career. There's a story that her radio operator picked up signals from Kido Butai during the approach to Pearl Harbor. She was also the ship that picked up the American diplomatic corps from Japan after war was declared. She pops up all over the place during the war if you look at which troop transports participated in any given operation.

She also was the pride of the Matson line and the primary way anyone got to Hawaii prior to airlines. A heck of a career.

The Italians had higher velocity guns than most navies, providing more penetration at the cost of barrel wear and possibly some salvo dispersion, although that may have been from sloppy tolerances from the shell manufacturers. French had some very high speed Destroyers like the Le Fantasque. And because im weird I also find it interesting that they used a substance called Black Mousse to fill the voids in some of their ships to keep out water. Only problem is that if it became soaked with oil from leaking/damaged tanks, you then had a flammable substance squirreled away in parts of the ship that were difficult or impossible to reach.

French ships were the best. All guns forward at all times.

The Raleigh took two bombs, and its unlikely that it would've sunk. That being said, I'll put up the new lucky ship, but if it turns out Raleigh is still alive I'll have to penalize excessive claiming!

The Minekaze is actually rated at a top speed of 35 (Presumably knots). This top speed is actually the second highest of all Japanese Destroyer classes, tied with the Kamikaze-class destroyers; the top speed is held by the Shimakaze-class Destroyers at 38 knots.

The main problem with the Minekaze destroyers is that they have low endurance (meaning they need to refuel more often), as well as being on the lower end of durability, but having a higher maneuverability.

Their speed is equal to whatever the aircraft carriers are, and they cruise at the same speed.

Are you doubting the veracity of Japanese reporting?!?

Jobbo_Fett posted:

In terms of historical talk or direct references, "closing" the Burma Road is what its referred to when the Japanese control it since it's primarily seen as a supply line to China, and not as a supply line out of it for the Japanese.

Japan closes the road by taking any part of it and breaking the supply link

Allies can open the road by retaking removing Japanese control of any of the segments

Grey has literally walked troops from China all the way to Burma and supply is free to move along the entire road for the glory of the empire!

Of course none of the Japanese armies in China or Burma have any supply so it's moot

Tankers come in all sizes in this game an just get the designation TK. Looking at the combat screen, the Santa Maria is larger than the DDs torpedoing it, and almost as large as the BB. And then there's the other TK, Isis, which looks like a converted AK.

There are converted cargo ships that specialize in oil transport and there are specialized oil transport ships; visual cues and oil capacity (hidden 3 menus deep) or victory points (hidden 3 different menus deep) is how to tell them apart.

I'm joking. Somewhat.

Yeah, looks like a T2-SE-A2 tanker.

General characteristics
Displacement:

21,880 tons full
5,532 tons light

Length: 524 ft (160 m)

Turbo-electric, single screw,

The ability to improve the charts is severely limited by the requirement to use Google Sheets to generate the charts. There's a lot more that can be done, but it'll only be useful to Grey if he's up for using some third-party charting software. That's probably asking too much.

The main improvement was already made in that link - putting japanese always as some shade of red and allies as some shade of blue, and putting the text in the labels into the same order (for example "allied AI and japanese AI", as opposed to "AI allied and japanese AI") but the thread apparently rejected these changes as "confusing" so I dunno, guys.

It was one dissenting person!

Chaotic Neutral posted:

The red/blue graph was an improvement in theory, but the decision to fade the AI instead of fading the historical values kinda sabotaged its readability, and it could have used a finer resolution on the grid lines.

Yeah, go back to the red and blue color scheme, fix the labels and fade the historical values NOT the AI values and everything is good.
