63 japanese aircraft go up against 12 allied, including 6 bombers. And we get 6 oscars shot down for non of theirs? How is that even possible? You'd think an oscar would at least inadvertently ram a spitfire or two in that furball.

Gray may have sunk 2 fleet carriers, but there are a dozen more out there with a dozen more on the way. Grey took a smart, aggressive roll of the dice and came out ahead. If that second strike were targeted at his carriers we could be talking about this being a Philippine Sea type battle that permanently destroys the Kido Butai as a major force. Grey could have easily lost multiple fleet carriers there, irreplaceable assets. A Japanese victory is far from a sure thing ar this point.
