I now have something to read until at least 2020.

I'll take BB Yamashiro as my lucky ship. With a mast that tall, how can it ever sink?

So what was the logic behind cancelling those fleet carriers early in the game? What do you get instead of those flattops?

Amazing how the paint on the kill flags are still so vibrant. It's like they were painted yesterday.

Also, looks like the pilot managed to get out :unsmith:

63 japanese aircraft go up against 12 allied, including 6 bombers.

And we get 6 oscars shot down for non of theirs? How is that even possible? You'd think an oscar would at least inadvertently ram a spitfire or two in that furball.

So running a battleship SAG to refuel another SAG in the teeth of allied airpower...worked?

Can't wait for the assessment that the US Navy needs to train its sailors in boarding and ramming tactics after this failed invasion of Rabaul.

The cutlass again becomes standard equipment for every sailor.

First the Royal Navy, now the British monarchy.

Is there an english institution Grey won't destroy?

I'd love to see what crazy ideas naval architects can come up with postwar, as we've proven that the Battleship is still Queen of the ocean. And the Aircraft Carrier should play a supporting role.

Gray may have sunk 2 fleet carriers, but there are a dozen more out there with a dozen more on the way. Grey took a smart, aggressive roll of the dice and came out ahead. If that second strike were targeted at his carriers we could be talking about this being a Philippine Sea type battle that permanently destroys the Kido Butai as a major force. Grey could have easily lost multiple fleet carriers there, irreplaceable assets.

A Japanese victory is far from a sure thing ar this point.

Too bad you couldn't board and capture those tankers. They would make valuable prizes.
