There's a hella lot of snow right now and my brakes are screwed, but I really like going hiking and hope to start backpacking next summer. Costco has hella nice clothes for it, they've got good hiking socks and we just got thermal shirts this month, and I'm keeping an eye on REI sales to see if any small tents or anything come up for cheap.
Once my car's fixed I'll be able to go to better trailheads, there's not much accessible by bus unless I want to walk a LOT.
