The government treats rightwing miltias with kid gloves because the escalating violence between the two in the 90s was on the verge of turning into a full-on armed insurrection. Once the Oklahoma Federal Buildings went up the government decided there was a core group willing to go all the way and that discretion was the better part of valor.
