So what was the purpose of these fires these three ranchers set? Were they actually terroristic (is that even a word.) or is that an over reach?

Not that I agree with the militia. I think it's a "whoever wins we lose" kind of situation.

They wanted to clear weeds/juniper on the land to allow for cattle grazing. It was loving stupid and they had the book thrown at them to drive home a message.

Can only wait to see what catastrophe happens here, in a federal building instead of over some dirtpile ranch dispute.

For anyone wondering: the unincorporated community of Voltage is definitely not cool enough to deserve that name.

Voltage post office was established in 1908 by Walter C. Botsford, the first postmaster, who was interested in electricity and thought that the river could generate enough "voltage" to serve the entire Harney Valley.[3] He had confused voltage with power; a hydropower project was never attempted.

lol

There's a local law enforcement press conference happening at 3 PST apparently.

I wonder how a republican president would react to a left wing armed occupation like this.

A left wing group would argue among themselves and split up before they made it past Winnemucca though.

Law enforcement press conference will be streamed here whenever it starts: http://koin.com/koin-video-extras/

There's a reporter that doesn't know the mic is on debating how to pronounce Hammond over the phone with someone.

Edit: Starting now aaaand it's already over. Sheriff said "Please leave." that was about it.

quote:

Ammon Bundy runs a Phoenix-based company called Valet Fleet Services LLC, which specializes in repairing and maintaining fleets of semitrucks throughout Arizona. On April 15, 2010—Tax Day, as it happens—Bundy's business borrowed $530,000 through a Small Business Administration loan guarantee program. The available public record does not indicate what the loan was used for or whether it was repaid. The SBA website notes that this loan guarantee was issued under a program "to aid small businesses which are unable to obtain financing in the private credit marketplace." The government estimated that this subsidy could cost taxpayers $22,419. Bundy did not respond to an email request for comment about the SBA loan.
