Farewell, marble-dwellers!

quote:

Quick release is not to be confused with instant release, which is a trick to grab an object and then release it after 0 frames by either bonking or receiving big fall damage. In contrast, quick release is a trick to grab an object and then release it after 1 frame by being pushed off of a ledge. Thus, instant release doesn't update the HOLP, whereas quick release updates the HOLP for one frame (hence, it releases the object quickly, but not instantly). Instant release is useful for dropping objects at the HOLP, whereas quick release is useful for saving some frames.

Farewell, marble-dwellers!

i actually think it's good to press the A button

That's A-bleist as hell. Not everyone can be a jump man like Mario. When I go to work and there's a block in my way I can't just jump over it, I need to take the goomba staircase.

Farewell, marble-dwellers!
Alternate Bowser in the sky strat that's faster by avoiding the goomba staircase:

This video is an improvement from my previous video in which this was done slower (https://youtu.be/bxr7eVEN0sY). Since then, several time improvements have been found, which are incorporated into this video:
(1) Pause Buffer Hitstun a Fire Clone: https://youtu.be/Zuc528e6AuY
(2) Red Coin using VSC: https://youtu.be/hW6wLjuoNe8
(3) Across Gap without a Goomba: https://youtu.be/pcKSpyGVsBg
(4) Goomba Clone Across Gap using 1 Clone: https://youtu.be/sOSCpVO7Qbg
(5) Red Coin Escape using Goomba: https://youtu.be/Crhi37YR6rE
With these time improvements, the strat is much faster, and so doesn't even require any fast-forwarding (RIP William Tell Overture Remix for goomba ladder cloning).

There is another alternate that doesn't get the red coin star:

Farewell, marble-dwellers!
The video covers a lot of tech I was already aware of but having it presented in a relatively concise way alongside the A-press timeline made it interesting all over again.

Farewell, marble-dwellers!
On the day of the accident, Mario's screwdriver slipped outward a fraction of an inch while he was lowering the top floor, allowing the top floor's first vertex to become lower than the lower floor's first vertex. Instantly, there was a flash of light; the floor had become overshadowed, releasing an intense burst of ceiling, the exposure of which was calculated based on the estimated half second between when the ceiling appeared to when Mario removed the top floor. Mario quickly twisted his wrist, flipping the top floor out of bounds. The position of Mario's hitbox over the apparatus also shielded the others from much of the squishing, but he received a lethal dose of 9 damage in less than a second and game overed nine days later from acute squish canceling.
