This reminds me of the idiot on Reddit who thought Marx was being literal when he wrote "a spectre is haunting Europe..." and that Marx meant a giant ghost was going to create Communism. I wish I could find the screenshot

really disappointed that nobody said to bring back karl marx yet. obvious best choice, he could finish capital among other things, and his burns are amazing. can you imagine them in 2019? he would own at twitter.

i don’t know poo poo about cosmology but this article seems incredibly dumb because if the main point they have is about the universe being infinite and having no beginning how does there being a series of big bangs solve that problem? doesn’t that just expand the cosmological timescale and still involve some sort of first instance unless it somehow loops back on itself? and what the gently caress does any of this have to do with human history as the history of class struggle?

the mention of how marx felt about what is property reminds me of this letter after proudhon’s death where he answers someone’s question on how he feels about proudhon, which is pretty neat: https://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/1865/letters/65_01_24.htm

apropos of nothing's take on things here seems about right.

can't help but think of marx's disagreement with french socialists including his son-in-law lafargue, where in response to them calling themselves marxists he said “ce qu'il y a de certain c'est que moi, je ne suis pas Marxiste” ("what is certain is that [if they are Marxists], [then] I myself am not a Marxist")

dialectics is very much not a thing everybody does. most people are idealists

this was a few pages ago but it still bugs me that i don’t know if anybody pointed out that dialectics is not inherently opposed to idealism at all, like with hegel
