I bought hollow fragment and lost song because they were on sale and I was feeling jrpg ish, is there anything I need to know to not gently caress myself over and end up grinding forever going into hollow fragment?

How do you activate it?

When you have the launch screen for the game there's a + icon as one of the options along the top of the splash image. You press that and you can turn it on and off for that game.

I forget how to do it in bulk but I think that's in settings somewhere too.

I've been stung by the fact it's not on by default before.

How expensive are the Mem cards?

Is there a place I can look through their eshop while not on a console?

Memory cards are expensive as gently caress. 16gb is like £35. If you're bargain hunting look for the ones that come bundled with some game downloads, there's usually a couple of decent ones included to soften the blow.

https://store.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com is the online storefront. Buy games online and you can push them direct to your vita as long as it's connected to wifi at home or wherever.

Also pro tip don't turn on "use wifi in power saving mode" thinking it means it'll stay connected when you put the console into standby because what it actually means is "turn off wifi in standby to save power" which is the opposite of how it loving reads thanks for all the wasted time Sony.

Holy poo poo, you've progressed a lot into anime. Good job. As for HF: Grinding is kind of its thing. The one thing you need to be aware of is that it's easy to overlevel yourself in hollow area, making the main quest level stuff amazingly easy. On the other hand, going into the hollow area and doing the implements (basically achievements with rewards) can serve as an extended tutorial to help learn the combat system. Also Lost Song is basically the definition of :mediocre: It's a macross style game that focuses on close combat, has a very simple combat system, huge outdoor levels (with little in them) to get lost in, and dungeons where you're forbidden from flying. Maybe play Lost Song first to get through its story once and to see if you can stomach it, then get into HF.

I've never had a problem with anime the old thread just got mega loving creepy.

Hi new vita thread I hope we can have a fresh start and be vita buddies.

I grabbed both because I read hf leads directly into ls so I figured if I have time to burn I may as well play them both + decent sale prices. I have next to no idea what's going on so far although there's been a little intro video that kind of explained what I've missed by not knowing anything about the series going in.

Basically seems to be the anime version of Otherland.

I'll fire up ls in a bit and see how that plays since you suggest hitting it first, thanks.

RE: durability: My launch vita went through a full wash cycle. Left it in the sun for 2 days, charged it up, everything still works, including the 8gb card/persona 4 card I had in there.

Adding to this I don't know about the slim but the battery on the original model vita is loving insane. It'll live in standby until the heat death of the universe which is super cool when coupled with instant suspend/resume and the fact I tend to put it down and forget about it for weeks at a time.

I think I remember hearing the Vita version runs like rear end, so it's probably not worth it unless you have no desire to pick up the PS3 version of the collection.

It does run like garbage, yes. So does jak and daxter iirc.

Speaking of which what's a good vita platformer that isn't little big planet because the jumping in lbp is dogshit.

Theme Hospital was pulled from the EU store entirely at some point which is much more bullshit than a missing imaginary soundtrack because I owned it and now I don't anymore.

Pretty sure it never worked on Vita for us anyway which is also bullshit but not as much as not even having a game I paid for anymore.

Yeah I went digging through my 40 page download list and it's no longer there. All my other lovely psone games from the dawn of PSN are though so I guess I could always play G-Police or Disney's Action Game Featuring Hercules.

EDIT: It still appears in my separate "Purchase History" for my entire Sony account and there's a download link there which downloads the .xpd file for MediaGo, so I guess maybe I could install that then play it on my PSP instead until I get pissed off at the tiny screen.

hosed up vita battery bros: It looks like if you let it go into standby by itself (set the timeout to a minute or whatever) it actually goes into standby instead of just pretending and draining your battery.

Woptendo posted:

Mine was like that too until the last update. Pretty sure a couple other people in this thread were experiencing the same issue.

My night of testing suggests if you let it go to sleep by itself (set the timeout for standby to one minute to make this less ridiculous) it'll sleep properly with the wifi left on whatever setting you prefer and your battery will be as good as it ever is.

Manually pressing the power button to put it in standby apparently just turns off the screen and leaves the console running at full tilt.

Hopefully there's another update soon because this is pretty poo poo and I still want to buy digimon on Friday.

My store problems have gone away after a reset from the recovery menu, and I didn't have to reinstall anything because a format wasn't needed.

:siren:Set the standby timeout to one minute and let it go to sleep by itself when you're done with it instead of hitting the power button. :siren:

Then wait for a firmware update to fix whatever they've hosed up. I had crazy "dead-overnight" drain for the first couple of days after the update and since I started doing the above its completely normal.

It looks like the power button is just turning off the screen instead of putting the console into standby. The vita logo stays lit when you turn it off by the power button but will blink and go off like normal when you let it sleep by itself.

Vita piracy isn't going to hurt the vita because it's already dead.

I thought about pirating some poo poo and then realised it's been piracy free so long that I've already bought all the games I want and nothing new is coming, so there's nothing for me to pirate.

I knew nothing about anything persona related before playing p4g just because it was supposed to be the best jrpg on the console and I was jonesing.

At first I wasn't into it because it felt like I was playing some japanophile wet dream high school simulator but then it turned out to actually own and be both cool and good, even if you can't date Kanji. If you like animes you won't even have that first problem so I guess it'll own even more? Except not being able to date Kanji, that's still a problem.

OG Vita charger cables are weirdly ubiquitous and not at all as expensive as their proprietary nature would have you expect, especially considering that the form factor is double dead. Even the official cables are still doing the rounds and not wallet-gently caress pricey, picked another one up a few months back when my first one started to fray.

I have an extra long third party one which works fine for charging, but the USB connection is garbage tier and disconnects from my pc constantly when I'm dicking around with backups and whatnot. I just use a normal OEM Sony one for that since I don't need to have my Vita 6 feet away from the computer whilst it's backing up/restoring.
