I just finished Enemy Within savescumming, I want XCOM2 to be a new beginning where I can play like a real human being.

I would turn on Ironman because I want to have losing be part of my learning curve and also legitimately see the game over screen, but I am worried about stability issues with a new game.

I thought US capitalism was supposed to be all like: "Competition gets us the best of the best." while in my socialist country there's only a few that just go wherever and whoever calls on them, cause the infrastructure was laid all across the country. But then again, our country is also tiny compared to the wide swathes of the US.

You'd really need state-limited ISPs TBH. A few for a handful of states to compete between each other, as opposed to just a few big country ones which can pick and choose which parts of the country come into the modern civilized world, and which are stuck in the sub 1MB/s dark ages.

There used to be multiple regional telecoms in the United States, but guess what actually happens when there's unregulated competition

The only ill will I ever held towards The Bureau was when I thought it had usurped the X-Com name and spiked the chance of an actual sequel/remake for good (like at the time the closest thing were those janky UFO Aftermath games).

Now that the actual remake was released, amazing, and did well enough for a sequel, it seems worth being magnanimous about the whole thing

It's worth remembering that when they first revealed the bureau it was just straight up called XCOM, and when some executive/marketer was asked why they were making a shooter out of that IP, they basically said that no one wanted to play turn-based games. I'm not sure if Enemy Unknown had even been greenlit at that time.

That said, I'm almost glad for those doldrums because it made watching the Enemy Unknown E3 trailer that much more amazing. That music, those designs, everything about it was so good

Probably. There's like 12 different english ones, and usually 3-5 for the other languages, and a ton of languages are supported. Plus cutscenes in different languages, and whatever, and all of the tile set assets, etc...

I feel like any kind of basic audio/video compression should obviate this, and hopefully it's not just multiple copies of the same FMV scenes with different audio instead of, you know, having separate audio tracks

It looks like you can choose some exo-suit looking things as customization options but they're only cosmetic? I assume there must be some kind of research/engineering development along those lines, though.

Didn't they say they were changing things so that the enemy now has a chance to shoot you on their turn if they see you on patrol, precisely because of that, though

I did an EW run too. Basically the Cybernetics Lab helps you make a weak Squaddie into a useful tanky character for the early game, and the Genetics La is good in the mid-late game for making your amazing A-Team even better. They both require Meld, and trying to chase Meld will get you killed so don't do it

Is the sword range just single-tile? The thing about Run and Gun was that you could advance and take out an enemy in cover while also landing in a cover spot against the enemy front. If you have to get up in an enemy's grill won't you end your turn exposed most of the time

Haywire Protocol has really come in handy for me, but is the control effect always the same length? I wish you got a warning that "Hey, this guy will be free of control next turn and can run up and shoot you in the face"

So is the Advanced Warfare Center's ability only a chance to proc per promotion? Does staffing it affect that or should I be clearing it out when there are no wounded? (Which is like 1 day out of 30)

Building a workshop first in the top center slot seems like a good deal; it helps clear your base out faster and will let you staff more rooms quickly.

The black market seems like a trap. There doesn't seem to be any no-brainer items to sell anymore, am I wrong? And it sounds like intel is crucial for expansion so I shouldn't give it away lightly.

Look at the toolbar at the bottom center of the map. The icon for the enemy facility should be clickable and let you start the mission.

Yeah, so far I have not lost missions due to the turn limit (on Commander). The closest has been with retaliation missions and not having enough civvies, but that's when you charge the enemies so you can wipe them out. Like, there are in-game solutions to make the time limits not so tight. Disorienting and other status ailments on enemies will help you shake them on evac missions. The GTS upgrade to give you mobility in concealment at the beginning of a mission will help you in most guerrilla ops.
