So how do I share characters I make with people? I'm rather inept with computers.

Step 1: Create characters
Step 2: Select character in Character Pool from main menu, export to a Character Pool (create your own, preferably)

Step 3: Here's where the file-mucking begins. At least in my computer, where to go is ->

Documents->My Games->XCOM2->XComGame->CharacterPool->Importable-> Your character pool .bin file is here. Email it to them as an attachment or upload it somewhere for download.

Step 4: Have them download it, and put it in the same spot on THEIR computer.

Huh. That is not what I was expecting, I figured there was just a "share with friends" button or something. Thank you for the quick reply.

I miss all the helmets from the first game.

If a character pool person is flagged "Rookie" do they ONLY come up as rookies, or can they be council mission reward people too?

Sankara

I wish the character creator let you choose the "resistance warrior" clothes too.

Wow, uh, psychic troops are... very powerful...

That campaign felt really short. Maybe it's just because I'm super used to Long War (and never finishing), but... I dunno. Just did.

I'm loving the idea that, having run out of ex-military, returning XCOM veterans, and mercenaries to hire, Bradford has had to resort to going to various back alleys and resistance slums shouting "WHO WANTS A GUN".

This should be one of the default character bios.

Death From Above on a Specialist feels like cheating.

Operation BLOOD SOAKED LAUGHTER? Jesus christ, mission name person.

Is there a mod that disables the automatically generated "old XCOM veteran" soldier when you start a game? I quite like the armour and whatnot and would like to keep it, I just find it annoying it usually ends up rewriting over a character pool person.

XCOM Alkydere I swear if you don't hit a shot this mission I'm going to stop putting you in cover.

Sankara

I like the Long War Leader Training perk, but it seems to disable the "soldiers mingling about in the ship" thing. Now that it's gone, I'm surprised how much I miss it.

Which is why after the aliens are defeated, we all learn about the beauty of working together and capitalism is defeated. :ussr:

I'm so jealous of you people getting cool AWC perks. All I ever get is stuff like Aim.

Sankara

Wow, apparently XCOM 2 was one of the best selling games on Steam this year. Yeahhh boy!

Sankara

Yeah, it's a shame Zhang didn't come out when Enemy Within did. Then he could have been a reskinned infiltrated agent! Protect the VIP, also he has a pistol!

Sankara
Jul 18, 2008

The Real War, eh? Hm. I wonder what that could mean. Post final mission stuff, with Elders invading?

XCOM 2: Meld

It's meld, everyone. We're bringing it back.

Sankara

$40 for an expansion pack seems awfully steep to me.

Sankara

ADVENT gibberish.

Sankara
Jul 18, 2008

I uninstalled XCOM 2 and all the mods I had for it a while ago. Experimenting with some optimization things. Anyway, I'm considering getting the expansion. Do voice line mods still work?

Sankara
Jul 18, 2008

You not respecting the troops or something, BlazetheInferno????????

Sankara
Jul 18, 2008

I feel like an idiot but is there consistency to whether or not an Advent Purifier blows up when killed?

Sankara
Jul 18, 2008

It's completely, absurdly overpowered but the mod that makes sword attacks Headshot rules pretty hard.

Sankara
Jul 18, 2008

I hate how if you have a lot of skin mods when you research an armour upgrade it completely destroys your troops' outfits. Bah!

Sankara
Jul 18, 2008

Have you always been able to make such fantastic posters in XCOM 2 and I've just been lazy, or do you have a mod installed to do that, Nordick? Lovely work, regardless.

Sankara
Jul 18, 2008

I've been out of the XCOM 2 world for a hot minute. What's the coolest mods these days? There a list somewhere?

Sankara

I keep getting ~216800 on this legacy mission thing, juuuust shy of gold medal. Infuriating!

Sankara

That reminds me, you don't get a story Templar like the other factions. I wonder why? Too goofy?

Howdy, XCOM 1 and 2 liker here who never got around to finishing XCOM 2 or playing the DLC. How much of the ~lore~ am I missing out on besides everyone is kind of working together now?

Aliens actually won, in XCOM EU the aliens find the base and attack it in like month 2. They capture the Commander, and the rest of the "game" that "you" are playing is actually simulations in order to learn about human combat abilities and what not. They wholly and completely take over Earth. Kill zillions. Years later, it's XCOM 2. A grizzled Bradford along with some soldiers rescue the Commander from containment, then you play as terrorists fighting against the alien government. You beat up some super aliens and eventually win!

Perhaps part of the parameters are "take leader alive/kill leader", as well?

Patchwork is MVP fighting Sacred Coil, then kind of pointless. Weird dichotomy.

I only managed to beat that Sacred Coil mission by the skin of my teeth. Patchwork and Verge were immediately taken out, so I just had Terminal hide in a corner spamming heals on a Godmother standing out in the open, exchanging damage with the Gatekeeper.
