I was a wildland fire Hotshot in Alaska for 2 seasons, 2011-2012. We were based out of Fairbanks but I served everywhere from Arizona to the Arctic Circle. It was interesting. We took helicopters most places, usually followed by long, wet hikes. Sometimes we would commandeer a boat or a train or something.
