Yeah, it's one of those shows where the cheaper animation just somehow adds to it.

so wiz is a lich who cares about her appearance basically

Which makes a lot of sense given her backstory (that I doubt the anime will cover since she's a side character even throughout the novels.) Basically she got stuck with the choice of becoming a lich or dying young.

A show based on D&D fantasy should not be this funny or good.

Let me tell you about a show called The Slayers which was literally based on a D&D campaign....

Konosuba really is to me a modern take on the same ideas in a lot of ways.

There's also the possibility some of the VAs got promoted to a higher pay tier (it's all union controlled in Japan) which cut into the total budget.

Louie the Rune Soldier

A fantasy adventure set in the same world as Record of Lodoss War, it follows a typical adventuring party composed of fighter, cleric, mage, and thief through their adventures. The party consists of three strong, competent, independent women and a musclebound oaf of a man who tends to do his thinking with his fists.

The twist? The man isn't the fighter. He's the mage.

Yeah I recommend this one as well. It's definitely a proto-Konosuba though the story occasionally gets serious

Edit: \/ for sure, I'd rank Slayers above it by a long shot but mostly for the second season. First season Slayers is a bit rough and the third goes too plot heavy.
