My city keeps letting developers build apartment/mixed-use buildings but they're all these stupid loving "luxury apartments" with a heated dog garden and koi ponds and poo poo. Great job idiots, build another complex that charges $1500/mo for a studio the size of my office then wonder why people still say there's no housing!

it's more effective from a profit generation standpoint to target the wealthy and let the rest of the housing stock trickle downwards.
I can't imagine that being true, at least around here. These loving things sit 70-90% empty year round. How is it effective to charge one person $2200/mo for his 1Br and be surrounded by empty apartments when you could put up the exact same building, charge $600/mo and fill 30 apartments immediately? Is there some kind of bad developer subsidy?

I remember a big furor a few years ago when animators were up in arms because it's really hard to make a long enough animation to qualify for full ad coverage, which meant that suddenly they were getting almost no money. I think it hobbled the animation scene on Youtube.
It definitely hobbled the animation scene, and pretty much everything that isn't a vlog. I can spend weeks making some quality animation or writing and filming a script for a number of things, or a couple hours making & editing a 10 minute screed about Power Rangers. Hmm, which do I do?

So I just came from doing a walk-through of an apartment building. At the top of the stairwell I noticed there was no roof access hatch so i asked the super if she knew if there was a roof hatch anywhere or if you just had to get up there externally. She said she remembered someone telling her about how the roof access was in the basement. What??

So we went into the basement, opened a random storage locker. Inside this storage locker were some typical building upkeep supplies including a step ladder. This step ladder wasn't being stored, it was secretly part of the roof access. Looking up I saw a 3 story pipe chase lined with some 1x3's someone had nailed between the studs to form a ladder. So to get to the roof of this building you needed to climb up an old step ladder using the correct safe system of putting all your weight on the top "step", sort of jump and pull your self up into a small hole in the ceiling, then climb 3 stories up in pitch black on a poorly made unfinished lumber ladder, then, while still on this ladder in the dark, pop open a hatch and slither out.
A part of me really wants a house designed with all kinds of secret passages/rooms like this. Another part of me knows I'll never get it because lol @ upward mobility.

No, they make sure to load up all the plates, food, furniture, etc. in beforehand to ensure maximum sudden displacement and to give housekeeping something to do afterwards.

They also load the entire housekeeping staff so they'll be prepared for inclement weather.
