i worked on a porn downloader that connected to a usenet server and you could download sad nasty porn jpgs. it would find your network connections and switch them off, and then without permission from the user, find your modem if you had one, and dial a premium rate phone number that behaved as if it was in albania but was somewhere else. this was early 2000's i think, dialup still existed anyway. so basically this was malware that stole your money via your phone line. i quit before it was finished
