Just go online as soon as you feel you've got a handle on the basics. You'll get wrecked for sure, but you'll learn to play far quicker and better than you would against the computer. Compared to most people in this thread I'm terrible at Street Fighter and only barely know what I'm doing, but I still enjoyed playing SFIV online and was quite happy just having competitive matches with randoms despite usually losing. :shobon:
