Wasn't joker as a disenfranchised veteran kind of quietly his backstory in TDK?

I had never heard this theory before so I googled it. It looks like people are basing the idea off due to his planning skills, explosives knowledge, knowledge of certain procedures (the police funeral scene specifically), and one line of dialogue:
"Nobody panics when things go "according to plan." Even if the plan is horrifying! If, tomorrow, I tell the press that, like, a gang banger will get shot, or a truckload of soldiers will be blown up, nobody panics, because it's all "part of the plan". But when I say that one little old mayor will die, well then everyone loses their minds!"

It's almost like.... it's trying to look like a comic book cover. That's my thoughts on it. Yeah, it looks a little goofy but comic books are goofy as gently caress too. The setting, I could take or leave, but the whole "Lets have both teams run each other in perfect sync" doesn't really bother me at all.

It reminds me of the opening sequence in AoU where the group lines for that slow-mo shot as they jump at Hydra goons. Which is not a good thing.

That's actually an interesting element. Suicide Squad is a more diverse film but it's also a film about criminals and villains. This kinda plays directly into the Hollywood cliche. That doesn't mean DC is wrong or bad for doing or or anything, just that it's not exactly breaking the mold either. I think when people say a female-lead film or a black-lead film they mean one about a heroic character rather than, at best, a somewhat heroic criminal.

I'm willing to bet part of Suicide Squad will be informing the audience about how some of these characters became villains because of their circumstances instead of by choice. The only one admitting to loving crime for the sake of crime being the pasty white, green haired fella.

Also, I just learned one of the tag lines for Shaft was "The mob wanted Harlem back, They got Shaft...... up to here" and that's a dope tag line.

Thanks for indulging me. I haven't seen the original Shaft in years, so I looked up the plot synopsis and I had forgotten that he worked somewhat closely with a police detective and was considered more on the "up-and-up" then an underground savior.

You can say the same thing about Superman or Flash. Either of them should be able to solve any issue without any problem.

I mean, apparently a TV show is having no problem incorporating the Martian Manhunter into it and doing well by him. But a multi-million dollar blockbuster with bigger villains and higher stakes can't solve that problem?

There's actually a lot of melodrama surrounding MM on Supergirl and he purposely refuses to reveal himself as MM for a majority of the show so far. After he publicly reveals himself, he's arrested for being an alien, and was MIA from this week's episode chasing down his subplot offscreen. This week was a crossover with Flash so running time was limited.

He got a new lease on life at the end of BvS. It might also be a prequel, but I doubt it.

I think it'd be neat if they did a story that involved a villain from his past returning so they could use flashbacks to show us "pre-MoS" Batman compared to older Batman and use the way Batman investigates the villain presently juxtaposed with the previous investigation to highlight how he's changed and/or corrected his crazy behavior.
