When I was at university the local high street had street food stalls in the open air market. Mostly doughnuts and chips, sometimes there was a sketchy dude selling fish out the back of his van.

That looks a lot like something my mum makes that she calls 'ugly pasta'. Celery, onions, garlic, red pepper flakes, black pepper and brown lentils simmered in veggie stock, then you add ditalini pasta. It looks like beige death but holy poo poo it's good. edit: wow that's a lot of pages back. Pyrotoad has a new favorite as of 15:01 on Mar 3, 2017 |

So what's actually happening there? Did they not use enough oil and the chocolate's trying to reharden? Or did they not melt the chocolate enough in the first place? Or did they put like... rice krispies or something in there too?

A while ago someone was asking about a video of a monstrous taco in Brazil and I think I know which video they mean, but I can't find it either. I hope this classic pizza video helps job someone else's memory about it... Actual food porn, here's how to eat a whole lamb. (could be a sheep or a goat, either way looks good to me.) My parents did the same thing when they went to Japan, and didn't bring it up until I ordered some edamame pods at a restaurant a while later when they were back home because they thought I'd hate them. I can't remember if it's a stand-up bit or someone just retelling via post, but anyone else remember the dude who would collect up everyone else's empty pods and eat them?

TheAardvark posted:people loving eat boxfish??? You can eat so many different kinds of fish. This guy's whole channel is basically him showing you how to cook almost everything from the ocean you can think of - and one time an electric eel for some reason. He's a registered puffer chef too so they also pop up frequently and those things get surprisingly big. Not all the videos are subtitled but there's playlists that are kept updated with the subtitled episodes out there, they aren't hard to find. (Also his cat is cute.) Obviously not a click if you can't handle fish butchery (sometimes they come to him live, which he kills on camera), but the videos are genuinely fascinating.

I see the 'cook things in bacon fat!' chat and I raise you 'cook things in wagyu fat!'. Also I didn't get a picture because I didn't order it, but when I was in hospital with covid one of the main meal options on the menu form they gave me was grated cheese and nothing else. It wasn't even marked as the 'calorie dense' option.
