Is there something wrong with me? Unless a game has robust multiplayer, or is one of my nostalgic favorites, I just can't seem to bring myself to play it. It's 2016, every game should have some form of multiplayer. It feels lazy not to include it. Thoughts?

I think part of it boils down to the challenge of facing real opponents and besting them. I don't get the same satisfaction from beating a scenario in which there is only AI.

you grew older and as a result you concentrate on more important things, your attention span wanes, most games are not new experiences anymore but seem like everything is rehashed from another game, et. al. your yearning for nostalgic games is because you want to return to a time when the only thing you had to worry about was if you would be able to beat Mega Man 3 before you had to return it to Hollywood Video, so you would stay up all night to finish it and brag to your friends. as for multiplayer, getting thrown into a game with 16+ people from different walks of life is a new experience each time and is always interesting. - Ph.D. in Video Game Psychology

I worked at a LAN cafe for 2 years and I believe it got me addicted to hearing the cries of 10 year olds as knifed them in the back in CS. lol that reminds me, my boss used to bet people hours in the cafe if they could beat me in the specialists

Thats bizarre OP but I guess theres millions of people who play Dota 2 who would be insanely bored by anything else.. personally if I play to much multiplayer games Ill eventually think Good God what the gently caress am I doing this is just another drat rat race, and retreat into a comfy single player game for a while and watch snow fall on a village, or something.

Also, I'm more so talking about PC for multiplayer. I have no qualms about sitting down with a retro console and going hog wild with games I've never played.

condemned 2 got ruined by the dev team being split to add multipalyer that no one was ever going to play. my thoughts are that games should either be single player or multiplayer only

If a game doesn't have mutliplayer+ DLC "packs" to unlock stuff then im not buying it. That's why I love Star Wars battlefront for ps4 which is GOTG

But anyway... I mostly play multiplayer games but that's because its fun to play them with friends. I hardly ever play them alone, except some of the custom maps in Dota and sometimes a shooter if there's one I want to play.

i used to love multiplayer, but these days i only really care about singleplayer games,besides fighting games. it just doesnt feel like there's a reason to bother with match-based game types when i could be making progress in a good rpg or whatever. its cool to get better at competitive stuff but my backlog of good games is so long that i couldnt justify to myself dedicating that much time to some shooter or moba

None of my friends really play multiplayer games apart from Mario Kart and stuff when we "hang out" and bae plays co-op stuff with me but doesn't feel like it very often, and I don't really like playing with randos. So I don't play much multiplayer stuff anymore. We should get more pimp zone MP sessions going on.
