Trump has nowhere to go in the GE because (as was hammered home in 2012) the extremes you need to go to win the GOP nomination makes you completely unelectable in the general against a ham sandwich. Trump in his natural mode of operation went 10 times further than necessary. His extremely high exposure is his own worst enemy, hard to reinvent yourself to people who hate you. The GOP needs latinos and african americans to win, Trump isn't winning those demos in 1000 years.

Its the Independents that a candidate actually needs to appeal to in order to win. Independents don't decide elections. In fact, they don't really even exist. But to humor you dems DO make up a majority in swing states which is why it's an incredibly huge up hill battle for the GOP in the general and thats assuming your working with someone like Trump who hasn't already alienated literally every other critical demo.
