This mostly reminds me how many Marvel books I'm not reading and how many I started but dropped.

I kinda feel like ANAD Marvel is the exact opposite of AN Marvel for me.

Yeah, I started a bunch of books but the only ones I still care about are Vision and Karnak.

I think Vision's story is done at issue 12 too, but I'd really like to see King's character work on other characters. Imagine a Captain America or Moon Knight by him.

Unfortunately for that idea Tom King signed an exclusivity deal with DC.

I really hope Ewing is doing a New Warriors series sometime down the line. His take on Night Thrasher is too perfect for us to lose.

They might be wary of trying yet again after the last time crashed and burned. And, I believe, the time before that.

Seeing as the end of Secret Wars involved creating a new multiverse it would make sense to do a new Exiles now.

Whatever the reasons for why this is happening it is still a terrible idea for a story arc considering its not that long ago that they did the whole "inverted" heroes thing. So we already had a lot of stories of "what if a good guy was actually a BAD guy!?"

Oh yeah I forgot Cap's new shield was in this. Haha, how terrible/gimmicky was it?

Pretty terrible. They're trying to do the thing where it can do things other than being a shield/throwing weapon and that never really works out.

It was definitely a big mistake to make the inciting incident them stopping Thanos. Like what Tony, were they supposed to just let Thanos cause poo poo until somebody noticed? Also the stuff about nobody being able to read the future guy's mind came off as a little too plot convenient.

The part of the letters page where King acknowledged that, yeah, he tends to end issues on a downer was pretty funny.

Pretty much everything Iron Man related back when the comic started was "transistors." Transistor this and transistor that. Transistor rollerskates which also charge up his batteries.

The lead up to Secret Invasion had all the stuff about oh man, who are you going to be able to trust? Then it turned out that pretty much all the secret Skrulls just up and out themselves right away.

I don't know if it's a must read work, but Gerber's Omega the Unknown is short, not overwhelmingly '70s, and interesting as heck. Pair it with his Howard the Duck #16, and you have a good look at a fascinating dude.

Jonathan Lethem also did a thing with Omega the Unknown that was pretty out there.

Just from the conversations I've read here about it I know that only two people died in that book that anyone could have given a poo poo about, though realistically only one. The rest of the deaths were of characters introduced in that series.

It was definitely something that made the whole deathmatch part of the story hard to take seriously when a bunch of the characters had never appeared before. Also there was the stupid bit where they had to explain that while Arcade is now unstoppable it's only in the arena, not anywhere else.

Gary Frank used to be excellent, the change happened with Midnight Nation. He drew the bad guys with weird as poo poo mouths and it stuck to his style ever since.

He also kind of hosed up the last issue when what's her name showed up after being reborn as a human. She was supposed to be a young teenager but he basically drew her like a porn star.

I might be wrong, but later on the book seems to imply that "Thor" there is actually Loki disguised as her.

It's been a while since I read a Loki book but wasn't his power broken for a while where he couldn't look like other people?

Can I jump into Superior Foes of Spider-Man and Superior Spider-Man with no knowledge of the main comic? How about Scarlet Spider vol 2?

Despite the name Foes doesn't actually have anything to do with the "Superior" Spider-Man stuff. As for Scarlet Spider, I read it without having checked out any of the previous stuff and once you get through the opening it's fine. It helps that his series is him moving away from NYC and starting over somewhere else.

It is weird that Bunn's the only writer mentioned.

Not quite the Scott Snyder type guy to revolve a bunch of big ol' artists around, ala All-Star Batman.

I liked Bunn's run on Magneto, when it wasn't tied up with events.

Hank Pym's biggest problem isn't the wife beater stigma but the fact that he's a scientist character whose entire gimmick has been diluted by too many other people with the same powers. The scientist characterization can't really carry him because there are so many scientist characters in the Marvel universe with an already established pecking order where Reed is at the top so he can never be the best at that.
