What's up? DC just unveiled the creative teams for their 2016 line-wide relaunch, DC Universe Rebirth. Watch this two-hour video of that event! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MeclvTBvADI What's a Rebirth? Geoff Johns used the word to bring back Hal Jordan and Barry Allen. Supposedly it's about bringing LEGACY back to the DCU. Is it a reboot/de-boot? Nah. Blimmin' Convergence is still a factor with Ye Olde Lois and Clark and their kid running around. Superman has the S curl back. That's about as good as you'll get. Maybe that's the Legacy Johns means? What else! Quite a few notable LEGACY!! creators returning/arriving at DC, most books are twice-monthly with rotating artists and arcs, Action Comics and Detective Comic are back to original LEGACY!! numbering, every damned thing is $3, there's a whole nother crazy Hanna-Barbera thing, a couple handfuls of folks signed exclusive contracts. Okay. I didn't watch the video. What's what? DC Universe #0 Writer: Geoff Johns Artists: Gary Frank Ivan Reis Phil Jimenez Ethan Van Sciver Mysterious 80-page One-Shot Special that transitions the N52 to this thing. Not many details. There's a guy's arm on the cover. Dan Didio reckons it contains THE most controversial scene in DC history. Hoo dawgy! Batmans Batman Writer: Tom King Artists: David Finch, Mikel Janin Twice-monthly 2015's comic book superstar Tom (Grayson/Omega Men/Vision) King is taking on Mr. Dark Knight with a brand new Greg Capullo designed suit! Detective Comics Writer: James Tynion IV Artists: Eddy Barrows, Alvaro Martinez Twice-Monthly Batman Eternal showrunner JTIV's got this one and it's a crazy team book! Bruce, Batwoman, Tim Drake (in a traditional Robin style costume), Spoiler, Cassandra Kane and Clayface All Star Batman Writer: Scott Snyder Artists: Everybody Twice-Monthly You thought Scott was done with Batman? No way!! Here he is using all sorts of artists to match Batman up with all sorts of villains. Not just The Joker this time! Nightwing Writer: Tim Seeley Artists: Javi Fernandez, Marcus To Twice-Monthly Tim Seeley brings Dick Grayson back to his LEGACY!! role after being a super-spy in his co-written 'Grayson' Batgirl Writer: Hope Larson Artist: Rafael Albuquerque Monthly Batgirl's outta Burnside and traveling around 'Asia.' She's still got that cool DCYou costume, though! Batgirl & The Birds of Prey Writers: Julie Benson, Shawna Benson Artist: Claire Roe Monthly A couple of TV writers from 'The 100' bring you the new BOP. There's an 'Oracle' pretender out there and it's Batgirl, Black Canary and Huntress Vs whoever! Batman Beyond Writer: Dan Jurgens Artist: Bernard Chang Monthly They know they hosed up. This stars Terry. SuperWonderbooks Action Comics Writer: Dan Jurgens Artists: Patrick Zircher, Tyler Kirkham, Stephen Segovia Twice-Monthly Stars pre-New52 Superman and Lois (see Jurgens' Lois & Clark) facing off against Lex Luthor who's taken the role of Metropolis' Superman for himself. Also Doomsday cause, y'know. Will get to issue 1000 in a couple years!! Superman Writers: Peter J Tomasi, Patrick Gleason Artists: Patrick Gleason, Doug Mahnke. Twice-Monthly Team-N52-Batman+Robin are doing Superman with Doug Mahnke. My dream comic. Wonder Woman Writer: Greg Rucka Artists: Liam Sharp, Nicola Scott Twice-Monthly Fuckin' Greg Rucka is back at DC somehow working with some guy and also Nicola Scott (Who he was just working on Black Magick with. Read that comic!) New Superman Writer:Gene Yang Artist: Viktor Bogdanovic Monthly A new Chinese character, 17 year old Kenji, with Superman's powers. From the DCYou era's 'Superman' writer. Supergirl Writer: Steve Orlando Artist: Brian Ching Monthly Midnighter scribe Steve Orlando gives Supergirl back a skirt and her dad, Cyborg Superman!! Trinity Writer/Artist: Francis Manapul Artist: Clay Mann Monthly No info! Superwoman Writer/Artist: Phil Jimenez Artist: Emanuela Lupacchino Monthly No info on who this is. Super Sons No creative team announced, but that cover sure is by Jorge Jimenez. Monthly Damian Wayne and Jon Kent (the son from 'Lois & Clark') doing stuff! Leagues, Lanterns, etc Justice League of America No info! Some team way too cool to announced along with the rest of these comics! Justice League Writer: Bryan Hitch Artists: Tony Daniel, Fernando Pasarin Twice-Montly Two newer GLs replace Hal on the team. Weirdly uninteresting creators to take over Geoff's comic. The Flash Writer: Joshua Willamson Artist: Carmine Di Giandomenico, Neil Googe Twice-Monthly Birthright's writer might give us a good Flash comic. Can we hope? Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps Writer: Robert Venditti Artists: Ethan Van Sciver, Rafa Sandoval Twice-Monthly Venditti's sticking around. Green Lanterns Writer: Sam Humphries Artists: Robson Rocha, Ardian Syaf Twice-Monthly Simon Baz and Jessica Cruz, the GLs from Justice League star in this from traditionally Marvel writer Sam Humphries. Cyborg Writer: John Semper Artists: Will Conrad, Paul Pelletier Twice-Monthly I dunno why this is twice-monthly either. Aquaman Writer: Dan Abnett Artists: Brad Walker, Jesus Merino, Phil Briones Twice-Monthly Abnett's sticking to Aquaman. Titans Writer: Also Dan Abnett Artist: Brett Booth Monthly Picks up from Titans Hunt. Also Harley Quinn Writers: Jimmy Palmiotti, Amanda Conner Artists: Chad Hardin, John Timms Twice Monthly Good 'ol Harley. Suicide Squad Writer: Rob Williams Artists: Jim Lee, Philip Tan Twice-Monthly Rob Williams is coming off of the great DCYou Martian Manhunter, so give it a poke. Green Arrow Writer: Ben Percy Artists: Otto Schmidt, Juan Ferreya Twice-Monthly Percy is sticking on from DCYou GA, but the goatee is back! Red Hood & The Outlaws Writer: Scott Lobdell Artist: Dexter Soy Monthly The Hellblazer Writer: Simon Oliver Artist: Moritat Monthly Deathstroke Writer: Christopher Priest Artist: Carlo Pagulayan, Igor Vitorino, Felipe Watanabe You read that right. Teen Titans Writer: Ben Percy Artist: Jonboy Meyers Monthly Damian Wayne leads the TTs. Blue Beetle Writer: Kieth Giffen Artist: Scott Kolins Monthly Ted n' Jaime. Strangely absent Gotham Academy: Next Semester, Earth 2 and The Super-Man were all previously listed Rebirth titles, which didn't get mentioned at the showcase. It's possible that The Super-Man turned into New Superman... ... but what about Gotham Academy? The end? No! There's also DC's weird Hanna-Barbera revamp comics! Scooby Apocalypse Writers: Jim Lee, Keith Giffen, J.M. DeMatteis Artist: Howard Porter Scooby talks through enojis and Jim Lee mentioned Burning Man the other day. Jinkies! Future Quest Writer: Jeff Parker Artist: Evan "Doc" Shaner The team behind Flash Gordon and Convergence:Shazam gather all of HB's adventuring characters together. In other words, perfect. The Flintstones Writer: Mark Russel Artist: ??? The designs look weird, but Mark Russel did Prez, so I guess we'd better read it. Wacky Race Land A hard-edged re-imagining of Dick Dastardly, Muttley, Penelopy Pitstop and the gang by people who worked on Mad Max: Fury Road. And Gotham Academy is crossing over with Boom Studios's Lumberjanes. Also, Grant Morrison reckons there'll be a "Multiversity Too" and "Batman: Black and White" coming from him. Okay. Finally made a stupid OP, here's my pics (discounting JLA, Superwoman and Super Sons which have next to no info, and Gotham Academy which may be dead.) #1. Superman. B&R team plus Mahnke is too beautiful. #2. Batman It'd be #1 if Finch wasn't on it. For only getting one Tom King comic, it'd better be real good. #3 Wonder Woman Doy. #4 All Star Batman Mini stories with cool artists might be a good fit for Snyder. #5 Action Comics Sounds weird. Some sorta continuation of Lois+Clark? I'm in. #6 Supergirl Orlando's got me for Midnighter. #7 Detective Comics I'm always for a weirdo team-up, with two of the members it's a little close to the thing that killed off Batwoman, but Tynion's making Batman and Ninja Turtles work. #8 Batgirl Love Albuquerque. Don't know Larson, but a new voice could be great. #9 New Superman I hated his Superman comics, but this might be Gene Yung's real deal. I hope so. There might be a good new character in there. #10 Suicide Squad In for Rob Williams. #11 Batgirl: BOP Give it a shot. #12 Deathstroke Don't really know Priest but I'll try it on his reputation. #13 The Hellblazer Only read Last Gang In Town from Orlando. Didn't like that, but I'll try this. Moritat's great. #14/15 Justice League/ Green Lanterns I interested in those GLs. I'll try em. e: ee: Semper Fudge posted:

It's still Barb, and dunno. Presumably the end of the current series will transition, but changing scenery is an ultra common thing new runs do. This last team did it to distinguish themselves from Gail Simone's comics, though this is probably going to be a bit softer since it's coming off a well regarded and popular run (ie: The costume looks the same.)
