I thought Contrast was waaaaaay up its own butt about how cool it thought it was! Wonky controls, too. I hope We Happy Few is more polished. I seem to recall hearing that many of Contrast's problems were due to crunchtime? Not sure if I'm remembering correctly though.

I hope maybe next week there won't be any soul-killing controversies-that-honestly-should-not-even-be-controversies in gaming.

I missed Alphys-chat, but I wanted to add that the part everyone was super annoyed by was the part that made me have to stop playing for the day because I was laughing so hard, I was sobbing. I don't know what exactly caused that series of dumb social media/social awkwardness jokes to destroy me, but it did.

Gaming Drama update (not Gamergate though):

Good(?) news: One of the guys who made The Stanley Parable is NOT losing his whole leg due to a car accident. Jesus.

Bad news: "Famous" Youtuber Tobuscus (who you might know as the EXTREMELY hyperactive, annoying poo poo that even Aisha Tyler couldn't contain her contempt for at the Ubisoft E3 show a few years back), loved by many children across the internet and now a guy who has his own toy in Toys R Us..... Surprise! He's a drugged up rapist! Wowwy. Other ladies are coming forward with similar stories as well.

Boy, this hell-month for games is relentless, huh.

No proof, short of time traveling and being a fly on the wall during the assaults of every single person that comes forward about this, will ever be good enough to peeps like you anyhow so w/e.

Other horrible, useless gaming drama news (Which is borderline GamerGate? I'm not sure what qualifies as Gamergate anymore honestly?? They claim ownership of everything that happens these days...):
TotalBiscuit (who's supposed to have quit social media, I thought?) got very mad that FeministFrequency was streaming not-games-footage on Twitch. The rumor that I can't find evidence for is this: He's so peeved that he set up some sort of spite-charity-fundraiser things for "real feminism," whatever that means?

Anyway, regardless of the charity claim, it's not only completely within Twitch's TOS to stream what FemFreq was streaming, but TB himself streams his own podcast out of there, which also isn't game footage. Twitch streams Bob Ross (not games) and people making bongs (not games) and there's no outrage for that, y'know.

I can't find any links about the charity thing though, it happened yesterday, I think? Not sure.

So it's been over a solid month of games-related horrible drama/news.
-Tracer's rear end
-Alison Rapp
-Baldur'sGate-Gate
-Tobuscus
-Then there's this guy doing this poo poo that proves gamedev needs unions.

What's gonna happen next week? Is Gabe Newell gonna die?

Somebody write a short recap because I haven't heard of any of this except for Tracer's rear end.

-Tracer's rear end: People got mad that someone critiqued a videogame butt. Way more mad than the original critiquer was.

-Alison Rapp : Nintendo Treehouse employee was targeted by a hate mob because of her alleged involvement with the removal of a boob slider feature in a game. However, she was not on the localization team, however, and was in marketing. She had nothing to do with the boob slider, and was actually in favor of it staying in the game. This did not stop the hate mob, who internet-detective'd her enough to find (and misquote out of context) a paper she wrote in college about Japan's pedophilia laws being lax, and how America kinda has no business butting into Japan's laws. This, of course, translates to the mob as "PEDOPHILE APOLOGIST" even though the mob is hosted by 8chan, which hosts CP. They also found out that she was moonlighting as something (i've seen it vary between model and escort, I don't know what's true.) Nintendo fired her as a result of the mob unearthing these things. Then they released Miitomo and everyone forgot about that lady getting fired.

-Baldur'sGate-Gate: A transgender person is a quest-giving, non-important NPC character the new Balder's Gate thingy and male gamers cannot stop crying about this, even though it's entirely optional dialogue that reveals this. EDIT: oh wow, they removed her as a result? Holy poo poo why do people bend to the will of these morons?

-Tobuscus: Youtube star, beloved enough by kids to have his own toy in Toys R Us, is an alleged date rapist, abuser, drug addict. Many colleagues of his are confirming the allegation as completely within his character.

-Then there's this guy doing this poo poo that proves gamedev needs unions, which is really a pro-click powerpoint presentation and it's too hilarious to sum up.

The time spent keeping a mental dossier on every minor twitter shitfit and industry controversy in the gaming world could probably be spent much better playing and discussing actual games.
I couldn't answer this a few pages ago because I was literally livestreaming a videogame, lol. Strange as it may seem, it's easy to have a large enough attention span to both play games and keep up on recent industry shitfits.
