With the way my house is laid out, playing games from a sofa means playing a slightly uncomfortable position from the TV. These days I play either from my desk chair or I roll over to my bed if I'm being a filthy filthy boy.

FirstAidKite posted:it's like getting mad at the genre of roleplaying games since literally every game is a game where you play a role This is a weird one though, since RPGs used to actually be all about playing roles, and as time went on the roleplaying got edged out by the stat management and progression, but the name stayed the same. So now stats and progression means roleplaying. Should just call then nerd games for nerds.

I played 10 minutes of the Doom closed beta and it was absolutely terrible. The single player looks like it could be really good from what we've seen so far though. Still cautiously optimistic.

Palpek posted:How does it look any good? Non-existent level design with corridors with a couple of enemies and no actually dynamic movement and when they show the chainsaw instead of it making use of a real-time decapitation engine it's just a non-skippable animation that takes control away from you and breaks the flow of gameplay. None of these things say 'bad game' to me. They say 'not exactly Doom'. And I don't give a gently caress about Doom. The gameplay trailers look fun.

Palpek posted:Somebody write a short recap because I haven't heard of any of this except for Tracer's rear end. Nintendo fired an employee because she was being harassed and they felt vulnerable. The same babies that cried over Overwatch being 'censored' actively campaigned (and succeeded) to change the content of a crappy Baldur's Gate game because they didn't like it. Tobuscus (awful Youtuber) is apparently a rapist. Times are terrible.

Dapper_Swindler posted:didnt it end up that nintendo figured out she was moon lighting as a callgirl as well and thats why the fired her. If the reason was genualy about the paper then thats bullshit. i have friends who have to write the same kind of paper for psycholgy and criminal justice. I'm fairly sure the escort stuff was scumbags exaggerating, but even if it was that's still a hosed up thing to fire someone over. Especially when it's because scumbags are desperately trying to dig things up to get her fired. Ometeotl posted:It's grounds when that second job is as an """""escort""""" and you are an outspoken PR person for a family friendly public - facing company. Genuine curiosity here, is there actually any proof that she was that? Or is it just more of the same type of bullshit as usual?

8-Bit Scholar posted:It isn't though. Rapp's firing had nothing to do with lol "hate mobs" or whatever. Yes it did. She was fired because hate mobs fed Nintendo inflammatory information which they used as a convenient excuse*. *This is speculation but it's correct. 8-Bit Scholar posted:I don't know why anybody is continuing to harass her. Just delete your twitter and go off the Internet for awhile. The fact that the first thing she did was attempt to make this seem like she was being ousted for speaking her mind or whatever and then saying she's going to work for a progressive feminist game developer out in Seattle like okay

I'm excited cause the only film of his I've seen on the big screen was Ponyo. It just occurred to me that I've never seen a Ghibli movie on a big screen. Actually the only Japanese animation I've seen on a big screen is Pokémon, Digimon, Yu-Gi-Oh (yes really) and Tokyo Godfathers. One of those is good. Digimon.

Eh I sort of agree that Spirited Away gets less interesting the more it focuses on lore and narrative. The whole wolf dragon thing takes up so much time. Time that could have been spent on frog people.

Too bad it's happening to studios that theoretically shouldn't have problems with finding investors for already estabilished titles like Bayonetta or freaking Tomb Raider which sold so poorly despite being pretty good.
