That dude they arrested is basically the perfect storm of "person NYPD will regret doing that to." He's a federal employee, was delivering mail at the time, did nothing illegal, is engaged to a police officer, and the whole thing was filmed. There's not much they can do that'll leave them looking good with this one. DiBlasio needs to use it to get NYPD to calm the gently caress down, he's not going to get another chance like this one. I will be incredibly surprised if those officers receive anything more than MAYBE a stern talking to. I find it more likely that the USPS employee starts getting more tickets when he is off duty. Maybe they picked the exact wrong federal agency to gently caress with but honestly the "oh man THIS is the time the feds step in to punish crooked cops!" and then nothing happening is getting stale. Cops being able to assault and murder with impunity is just how it is in America.

They just show the so rarely that no one's really ever thought to pull them. Basically part of the reason the system works is that if the Post Office feels that you're tampering with or disrupting delivery of the mail they can reduce you to a smoldering crater (in a legal sense). Basically when those cops arrested the postman, they didn't gently caress with a single black man. They hosed with an entire federal institution and the Post Office is going to demand and very likely receive several pounds of flesh in return. It's not gonna be a case of "one dude versus NYPD" it's going to be a case of "Every lawyer the Post Office can spare versus NYPD" Alkydere fucked around with this message at 17:47 on Apr 1, 2016 |
