Not only is Hillary personally hawkish, but she will be pressed by two things: (1) she'll be the first female president, so she'll have to appear "tough, i.e. use military force; (2) IC and large sections of the military absolutely despise her for the email thing but for other things too, so she'll have to win back by their support by rubber stamping whatever position the mid or high-level management pushes her way people expecting Obama III are in for a rude awakening KaptainKrunk has issued a correction as of 04:25 on Apr 3, 2016 |

the first 18 months of her presidency are going to be dangerous, probably more dangerous than the first few years of Reagan's administration in terms of possibility of chance of great power crisis China loving hates her for talking about human rights (in their eyes, a code for regime change) so much, and she'll probably push more aggressively against claims in SCS She'll probably be super paranoid about Putin trying to push her around, and she'll surround herself with people looking to teach Russia a lesson for being so uppity

The big question about Yemen is who do we actually shoot at? The Houthis still control many of the areas where people actually live, and pose no threat to the US. They also seem to be fighting al-Qaeda. However, they're backed by Iran and we're already basically acting as the Saudi's logistical support for their war against them. We're droning al-Qaeda right now, but getting more involved may have the side effect of strengthening the Houthis. Given Clinton's insistence on a no fly zone over Syria to oust Assad, she might just attack both sides, using the (current/oncoming) famine as the man humanitarian reason.

Well I think the nice thing is that Liberals are very good at nuance, and realize that both that it will be hard to consistently determine who is who as well as the unpredictability of our involvement given a single objective. Ergo, we will shoot them all.

Syria, starting with her Bush-inspired no-fly zone and eventually ramping up until American soldiers are hunting for Assad in the streets of Damascus. Her advisers will propose a brilliant scheme to play the local factions against one another, which will ultimately result in everyone hating us. ISIS is effectively destroyed and something even worse takes its place shortly after we declare victory over the smoldering, corpse-filled ruins. Media outlets report on how Hillary has revolutionized the use of "smart power" and won a big victory for US strategic interests. Vox Nihili has issued a correction as of 09:35 on Apr 3, 2016 |
